Culdees Bunkhouse, with stunning views over Loch Tay, offers a wide range of self-catering accommodation, from a bunkhouse hostel, to family rooms offering an alternative to Bed and Breakfast, and a real home-from-home self-catering holiday cottage in the midst of the beautiful Perthshire Highlands of Scotland.

Culdees Bunkhouse Accommodation

You will find fully equipped kitchens as well as areas to relax, such as in the music room which has two pianos, guitars and other instruments, and lounge with wireless internet, or to enjoy an eclectic collection of books in the library.

In such a peaceful, rural setting, Culdees Bunkhouse is suitable for singles, couples, families or groups looking for time away, a quiet holiday or an action-packed outdoors adventure with the choice of many different activities in the surrounding area.

Culdees is equipped to provide a range of self-catering accommodation within its inter-connected buildings.
All bed-linen is provided.

A separate meeting room is also available to hire. The location, in the heart of the Perthshire Highlands gives enviable views over Loch Tay, adding to the charm of this place. Friendly multi-lingual staff will endeavour to make your stay a memorable one. We can accommodate individuals, couples, families, or groups of up to 38.

The Bunkhouse:
Culdees Bunkhouse is a hostel providing the perfect place to spend a relaxed and dry night after a great day out in the Highlands of Scotland. Offering 4 beds in each of 4 rooms,
(a total of 16 beds), the accommodation is suitable for individuals and up to medium-sized groups.

Bed-linen is provided, but bring your own towels. Guests are able to use the large, well equipped kitchen, the 4 shower rooms, the drying room, and the cosy lounge with satellite TV and wireless internet. Also available are the library, and music room with use of the many guitars, pianos and other musical instruments.

The Family Rooms:
The 3 family rooms and 1 double room are perfectly adapted to family or a couple's needs.
Creating a perfect combination of friendliness and a homely and relaxing atmosphere for you to spend a great day out in the heart of the Highlands.

Bed-linen is provided along with towels, and guests are free to use the large, well equipped kitchen, the 4 shower rooms, the laundry room, and the cosy lounge with satellite TV and wireless internet.
As well as the music room with use of the many guitars, pianos and other musical instruments. Our multilingual and friendly staff are available when you need them.

The Cottage:
The modernised cottage provides holiday accommodation adjacent to the main house.
There are 2 bedrooms (one having en-suite facilities), each with 3 bedspaces: a double bed and bunkbeds, sleeping 4 in each room.

With amazing views over the loch, it is a spacious cottage, with central heating and the living room features a large open fire-place, and the bed-settee can be utilised for extra sleeping space. Larger groups can expand into part of the main house, thereby offering good flexibility to suit your requirements.

Furthermore, there is a large, modern fully equipped kitchen and a bathroom, all linen and towels are included.

At Culdees:
For a fun filled evening overlooking Loch Tay, the barn can be rented out for bonfires or bbq's and can fit up to a hundred people, which makes it an ideal location for family anniversaries as well.
Also available is the facility for meetings and small conferences (up to 20 people), which can also be utilized for yoga and meditation groups.

Culdees is also home to its Culdees Ecovillage project, home to members, long term stayers and volunteers. Therefore on the grounds there is a wood workshop, a vegetable garden and various animals such as pigs, goats, chickens and ducks.

The Bunkhouse and Family Rooms are, at present, the only income-generating activities which support a charitable educational project, the non-profit Universal Health and Educational Trust, known as "Culdees", is carried by a small intentional community at Boreland Farm. It is located in the village of Fearnan, near Kenmore, Fortingall, Glen Lyon and Aberfeldy. Culdees is dedicated to ensuring its guests enjoy a pleasant stay helped by a friendly team of volunteers.

Surrounding Area:
Culdees Bunkhouse is the perfect base for your great days out in the Highlands of Scotland. You find 12 Munros in walking distance and various amazing cycling tours in the area and one of the oldest trees in the world lives in the village next door.

There are several water sports such as sailing and rafting and various other attractions.
Hiking Munros:
A munro is a mountain in Scotland with a height of over 3,000ft (or 914.4m), so get your hiking books on!
Legend Sailing Centre:
Go out on the loch, canoe, kayak, or enjoy one of the many other outdoor activies they offer such as archery.
White Water Rafting:
Go white-water rafting with "Splash", or alternatively they offer activities such as abseiling, quad bikes, and bridge swinging too.
Nae Limits Outdoor adventures - experience "The Art of Adventure".
Scottish Crannog Centre:
Visit a reconstruction of a crannog - an ancient loch dwelling, built out in the water as a defence.
Standing Stone Circles:
Scotland holds many ancient standing stone monuments, many of which can be found within Perthshire.
Aberfeldy Whisky Distillery:
Take a tour of the world-famous Dewars scotch whisky distillery and learn more about how its made.
Birks of Aberfeldy:
This is a popular circular walk, crossing where it is acclaimed Robert Burns wrote the famous song The Birks of Aberfeldy.
Falls of Acharn:
Enjoy a walk to the waterfall where the Acharn Burn (river) hits; continuing you reach spectacular views of Loch Tay.
Yew of Fortingall:
The yew tree in Fortingall is believed to be 5,000 years old, possibly the oldest living thing on earth.
Loch Tay Pottery:
A local neighbour creates beautiful ceramics in Fearnan, just down the road.
