The Barra peninsula is bordered by the Inhambane estuary on one side,
on the other side of Barra peninsula is the sea shore with long white
sandy beaches. The barra peninsula is accessible in a normal car, although
the last few km's to some of the barra resorts are on a corrugated dirt
road which can get sandy in patches, especially after a high tide.

Amongst the first lodges to be built in the
area Barra Lodge continues to be a firm favourite with self
catering cottages and twin bedded en-suite casitas. There
are two bars, the largest of which is situated on the beach
and serves a variety of pub style meals including pizza for
those who don't wish to frequent the restaurant. The swimming
pool area has a pleasant ambiance and creates a secure environment
for children and those who prefer fresh water to that of the
ocean.
