Most connections to the various lodges on the Bazaruto Islands (either by plane, boat or helicoptor) are scheduled to connect with the Pelican Air Flights to Vilanculos. If you're flying to Vilanculos with LAM (Air Mozambique) or from Lanseria and want to stay on one of the Bazauruto Islands you may need to pay for a private tansfer to the island or overnight at one of the following lodges in Vilanculos.

There are also twice weekly flights from Kruger to Vilanculos, from Vilanculos you will return directly to Johannesburg OR Tambo.

Visas may be obtained at airports on arrival in Mozambique (approximately US$25 per person), South African citizens do not require visas but must pay an immigration fee (approximately US3 or R21). Cash is required for all visas and immigration tax payments at Mozambique airports.

As of 1st July 2008, all departure taxes are collected by the various airlines, as part of the airfare and paid over to Mozambique so departure tax is no longer payable in Mozambique.
