Barra is set in one of the most picturesque areas in Mozambique, with breathtaking views of molten gold beaches and the azure blue waters of the Indian Ocean.

Situated 485km north of Maputo, access by road is a pleasant drive by tarred road. One may fly to Inhambane, the tarred runways and airports are well serviced. Customs and immigration are available.

Barra has secluded, unspoilt beaches, bordered by the Inbambane estuary on one side and the sea on the other. It is nestled among groves of coconut trees. The warm Indian Ocean offers safe bathing all year round. The wide open, squeaky clean beaches offer endless hours of strolling pleasure. Ski boat fishing is excellent and Barra is a venue of frequent game fishing competitions.

The largely unexplored reefs within close proximity to most lodges offers endless pleasure for scuba-diving and snorkeling.

For the wild at heart, there are Scuba diving & training courses, which will be your ticket to world-class dive sites, where you can explore coral reefs in the company of tropical fish, turtles, dolphins, Manta Rays and harmless whale sharks. Full time dive masters and instructors offer a range of courses.

Also, for those less enthusiastic about swimming underwater where you can see sharks miles away heading towards your mate and not you (hopefully) there is kayaking in the mangroves,sundowner booze cruises,paddle skiing,horse riding, not to mention quad bike tours, pub crawling at viby beach bars, and at last but not least, catamaran day trips around the peninsula and surrounding islands.
