The Bazaruto Archipelago is situated in southern Mozambique offshore
from Vilanculos. The main Bazaruto Islands in the archipelago include
Magaruque Island, Benguerra Island, Santa Carolina Island ('Paradise Island')

Accessible only by boat and located
inside the Bazaruto National Marine Reserve Dugong lodge is
a tranquil remote lodge. Just a handful of chalets looking
onto the beach, each romantic chalet has bathroom, fan, mosquito
nets, beach path and balcony. A lounge area, bar, dining area
and shady decking make up the main lodge. Walk out on the
jetty to spot dolphins and admire all the fish that swirl
underneath. Swimming pool complete with hammocks give you

Offshore from mainland Mozambique in the northern section of the Inhambane
province is a group of islands making up the tropical Islands of the Bazaruto
Archipelago, many of the Bazaruto Islands are now protected by the formation
of the Bazaruto National Park.
On the mainland Vilankulo, often still referred to as Vilanculos, is
known as the gateway to the Bazaruto Archipelago and there are regular
direct flights here from Maputo, Beira and South Africa. If you have your
own vehicle then you can also visit Inhassorro on the mainland opposite
the northern point of the Bazaruto Archipelago and closer to the Islands
of Santa Carolina and northern Bazaruto Island.
