The Hakos mountain range soars at a hight of 2000m above the farm. The steep folded mountains and the desert terrain offer unrivalled opportunities for excursions. |

Like almost everywhere else in Namibia, you will find untouched nature on the farm. Millions of years of the earth's history and geomorphology are presented for the geologist in this area of the escarpment on the edge of the desert. |

The location of Hakos Farm makes it the perfect place to enjoy the stars and planets. They have an astronomical observatory, with a roll-off roof house mirror and lens telescope, on a heavy mount with automatic tracking. |

The Vehrenberg-Observatory is situated on the first floor of Hakos Guestfarm in close proximity to the guest rooms. It consists of a shelter with a 2.5 x 4.0 m roll-off-roof. You get there by a winding staircase. Close beside it there is a separately accessible 3.0 x 4.5 m observing platform for your own instruments and mountings which can be fixed on two pillars, 16 cm in diameter. Both sites can be furnished with effective windshields. The all-round view is only slightly restricted towards the north by the roll-off-roof. Hills surround the observatory. Near the horizon towards the northeast the lights of Windhoek can only be guessed and do not affect observation. Astronomers are welcome to bring their own stargazing equipment. |
Accommodation is in 7 guest rooms, in either single or double rooms, all with a private bathroom and shower. Families are more than welcome, 1 of the rooms has 4-beds. |
