Angie's Dolphin Center is based in Ponta do Ouro and was founded for the purpose of educational and ethical wild dolphin in-water encountours that would fund the longterm monitoring of the local Dolphins of Ponta when she moved to Mozambique in 1999. Angie's love & dedication to the dolphins and citizen science saw the birth of what was to be Africa's first structured wild dolphin swim facility in Africa to offer encounters with marine mammals.

Dolphin Encountours Reservations: bookmozambique@madbookings.com

A journey of discovery awaits you. Educate yourself, enlighten your life and evolve as you come into contact with the resident dolphins of Southern Mozambique, on their terms. No feeding, no harassment. Just you and the dolphins, face to face in the big blue!

Our Mission:
· Ensure our motto "for the love of dolphins" is incorporated into everything we do.
· Create a sustainable world for marine mammals through education, research and conservation.
· Operate in integrity and strive towards creating a safe environment in which inter-species relationships can be explored.
· Facilitate a dolphin swim program that is profoundly educational and beneficial to being human.

Swim With Wild Dolphins
Dolphin Encountours Research Center has been active in the area of dolphin eco-tourism since the mid 90's having pioneered in-water dolphin encounters in Mozambique with the aim of establishing a sustainable longterm monitoring project through the research and conservation arm of DolphinCare.

An initiative that now sees some 300 dolphins identified in the area. Angie’s decades long relationship, passion and monitoring experience with the dolphins of ponta and her work in the realms of conscious interaction between species and a specially developed code of conduct, together with Mitches 21 year boating experience ensures your safety both while on board our vessel Avalon and while in the open ocean with wild dolphins.

Six months of the year we spend observing and collecting data on the majestic humpback whale migration. Interns and Volunteers stays are available for students, sojourn seekers and anyone wanting to spend an extended time in the company of marine mammals. Tours are accommodated at different venues in Ponta do Ouro, depending on guests requirements.

Volunteer
Volunteering is a great way to give back and help us keep up with the work load. As one can imagine there are many jobs, ranging from mundane office work to exciting sea travel! Visiting volunteers are accommodated, fed and mentored on-site by the Dolphin Encountours Research Center and visiting interns.

Our visiting volunteer program offers a unique opportunity for one to gain hands on experience with a focus on dolphins, whales and turtles in-season. For some it is a month long journey tuning into mother nature through both giving back and really diving in and for others it is used as platform to extend their knowledge on wild dolphins, their behaviour the marine environment & ethical marine mammal tourism practice.

The project operates year-round with programs lasting two to four weeks. Longer volunteer stays can be arranged. We will generally start each four week program on the first Monday of every month, each holding a maximum of eight participants. Additional weeks can be arranged upon request.

We invite you to take the plunge, face your fears & experience something truly magical when coming face to face with wild dolphins; sentient, non-human persons who allow us to experience their true essence of being wild & free while in the company of a small team of conservation orientated individuals who strive to create a safe space for marine mammal encounters to take place in the open ocean. Angie share's a 21 year bond with the local dolphins having known many of them most of their lives. We strive to create a space for interspecies engagements to take place and offer a unique one on one experience with wild dolphins that works within the realms of conscious interaction.

We offer research motivated boat based activities which focus on in-water experiences to engage with wild dolphins, on their terms as well as volunteer and internships stays.
