Bambatsi Guestfarm Namibia

Bambatsi Guestfarm Namibia

Bambatsi is one of the first and oldest guest farms in Namibia. It is situated 400 km north of Windhoek and lies 2 hours away from the Etosha National Park. You will be welcomed with our traditional "southwest" friendliness and way of life.

Our guest farm with its endless horizons, lies about 1234m high on a giant ridge, the natural geologic divide, between the central highland and the Namib desert. Our farm house is built on plateau, that has an awe-inspiring view over the mopane landscape.

Bambatsi Guestfarm Namibia

This accounts for our wonderful climate throughout the year and will inspire you to take walks through the surrounding mountains or the mopane forest, where you can catch sight of our indigenous game and birds.

Enjoy a relaxing sundowner on the patio of your bungalow, the pool or our bar, while being dazzled by our spectacular and typical Namibian sunsets.

Our comfortable bungalows are fitted with a double bed and some contain one or two single beds, electrical fittings, a shower and WC.

Our hostess will personally prepare an excellent german-namibian fare for you.

Our regular guests do affirm, with either extended or repeat visits, that it is money well spent, if you plan two or more nights at Bambatsi, while planning your holiday.

It is safe to undertake day trips to the "Fingerklippe", Twyfelfontein or to the fossilized forest, then return to the farm for our local teatime, which includes delicious home-baked cake and coffee or tea. Thereafter your host will take you on a game-drive in an open-air landrover.

We look forward to welcoming you to our little paradise, which offers peaceful, yet exhilarating times during your visit.

Some ideas of what to do at Bambatsi Guestfarm

Etosha National Park
Etosha National Park meaning the “Great White Place of Dry Water” is approximately 20,000 sq km with a vast white & greenish – like surrounding. In 1851 John Andersson and Francis Galton were the first Europeans to arrive by wagon in Namutoni, one of the parks inside Etosha. At that time Etosha didn’t attract the interest of tourists or conservationists until after the 20th century, when the German South-West African Governor Dr F von Lindequist became concerned over diminishing animal numbers.

Over 114 mammal species, 340 bird species, 16 reptiles and amphibians as well as countless insects are protected by the Park. Today Etosha had been increasing in sq km up to 23,175. The most widespread vegetation is mopane woodlands, stretches of savanna dominated by the umbrella-thorn (Acacia torilis) and other trees.

Visitors may observe elephants, giraffes, Burchells zebras, springboks, red hartebeests, blue wildebeest, gemsboks, elands, kudus, roans, ostriches, jackals, hyenas, lions and sometimes even leopards and cheetahs depending on the season. Among endangered species is the black rhino seen at Okaukeujo and the black-faced impala around Namutoni. Bird watching is spectacular especially when it is hot. During winter season the wildlife normally cluster around the water holes while in summer conditions animals disperse and look for shelter in the bush.

In the Park you will find the Okaukeujo, Halali and Namutoni Rest Camps. Etosha National Park is easily accessible from the iGowati Lodge either with own transport or a daily 4x4 trip by iGowati Lodge.

Petrified Forest as the name says is a garden of scattered petrified tree trunks up to 34m long and 6 m around which are more or less older than 260 million years. This open area of veld lies 40km west of Khorixas. The trees got their origin from the ancient gymnospermae better known as the cone-bearing plants.

Nowadays it contains more modern plants such as the conifers, cycads, and welwitschias. Please note that is strictly forbidden to carry off any scrap of petrified wood no matter the size.

Twyfelfontein
One of the most extensive galleried of rock art in Africa can been seen here. Twyfelfontein was named by the European settle D Levin because of its grassy valley surrounded by rocks. The petroglyphs are estimated to be around 6000 years old and covered the sandstone by cutting through the enormous patina.

Vingerklip
The unusual vingerklip got its name from its extreme popular features. It lies on the Bertram farm, 54km east of Khorixas on the C39. This towerlike pillar is about 35m high formed over 15 million years ago.

Where is Bambatsi Guestfarm?
halfway between Outjo and Khorixas on the C39. 30km from Vingerklip.
