We want our guests to feel spoilt. Everything is centred around this, from the luxurious bathrooms, to the extra-length beds, plush cushions, exotic fabrics, fresh-cut flowers, and delicious French cuisine. Officially opened in June 2006, Clico is perfectly situated in the leafy, central Rosebank, an upmarket suburb of South Africa’s commercial centre, Johannesburg. Housed in a 60-year old Cape Dutch house, Clico is an engaging mix of old and new – from the original Oregon pine floorboards and antique inlaid-wood side tables from Morocco, to custom-made, comfortable couches and the modern, whimsical sculptures by Anton Smit. |

Clico was the idea of owner Jeanette Schwegmann and chef Sean Ackermann, who realised the need to cater for the travel-weary, discerning guest in need of personal attention. The Boutique Hotel manager is the young and vibrant Adéle de Waal, who has both local and international experience in tourism management.
Clico is poised to cater for upmarket corporate guests as well as leisure-seeking tourists. Whether you’re after wireless internet from a plush armchair, or a perfect martini made with Tanqueray gin after a tour to Soweto or the Cradle of Humankind, we’re here to indulge you.
For some of the finest shopping in South Africa, visit the Rosebank Mall and The Zone shopping centres, two large shopping centres situated side by side, just a few blocks away from Clico Boutique Hotel. Whether you’re looking for chic, designer African fashion, the latest music, books, or trolley loads of homeware, technological gadgets or just about anything else, you’re sure to find it in this extensive shopping area, which is home to department stores, smaller boutiques, many trendy coffee shops and two cinema complexes, including a “Cinema Nouveau”, for limited release films.
Breakfasts are a selection of cereals, yoghurts, croissants or muffins, followed by a hot breakfast tailor-made for your tastebuds. It’s worth remembering that Sean has a secret recipe for scrambled eggs.

Once a month a chef’s table is held at Clico, with the focus on teaming up cuisine with visiting wine-makers’ tipples, whilst also playing host to some of our top local chefs.
