Odyssea Dive Centre is situated in the small town of Vilanculos in Southern Mozambique, 700 km north of the capital, Maputo.
Looking over the crystal waters of the Indian Ocean, the islands of the Bazaruto Archipelago are just a short dhow journey away. It is here that we take you on dive trips to see our underwater wonders.

Odyssea Dive is a PADI dive centre catering for all levels of experience including the beginner who can join in on the discovery of the underwater world, to people wishing to gain more experience and qualifications. The setting is an ideal location for obtaining your open water or advanced PADI diving qualification.

Extensive experience and the search for exciting and relatively unexplored diving led the Odyssea crew to Mozambique. Denis & Sabrina are now operating the dive center. Together we have over 15 years diving experience, safety being our number one priority. We have a pool so that we can provide a complete range of diving education based in a relaxed and comfortable surrounding. You can for example settle for a beer or whatever else drink (!) around the bar whilst completing logbooks.

We aim to go out everyday if possible (min 2 pax) to one of the several locations in the area.
We generally meet at 8:00am and tides permitting depart around 8:30am.
Most sites take around 45min to 1 hour to reach.
After the first dive we stop for lunch on one of the islands or the many sandbars. Following a relaxing surface interval sunning ourselves we then return to the sea for our 2nd dive, returning to Vilanculos around 3.30pm.

Non-divers have the option of either enjoying the islands during the day, or kitted out with our snorkelling gear exploring the inner reef of 2 mile, probably the best snorkelling spot along the coast of Mozambique.

The islands of the Bazaruto are a diverse home for both land and marine creatures including red duiker, bushbuck, samango monkey, as well as the elegant manta rays, whalesharks and the mermaids of the sea, the dugongs.
The islands habitats include formidable sand dunes, freshwater lakes, and patches of natural forest, but it really is the unspoilt white beaches, warm azure water and pristine coral reef that draws people to the coastline. Below the water an immense variety of hard and soft corals flourish providing a diverse and productive ecosystem. Marine life includes many brightly coloured tropical fish, sea horses, triggerfish, wrass, many species of gamefish, sharks and rays.

PADI Discover Scuba Diving: an introductory course taking absolute beginners though some basic diving theory, some exercises in the pool, then into the sea for 1 or 2 unforgettable dives accompanied by one of our experienced instructors.

PADI Open Water: 3-4 day course, 5 modules classroom, 5 modules in confined water training, 4 open water dives and qualify to dive anywhere in the world, down to 18 meters!

PADI Advanced Diver Course: 1 deep dive, 1 navigation dive, and 3 dives in various areas (performance buoyancy, drift dive, naturalist, underwater photography, multilevel...) of your choice to take your entry level qualifications one step further and become an advanced diver. You are then qualified to do wreck dives, night dives, deep dives (30m), cave dive, ice dive or whatever dive you can imagine with a qualified dive master.

Most of our diving is done from our faithful boat "Vasco" - an 8m RIB (rigid inflatable boat) equipped with 2x85hp engines giving 8 divers with 2 tanks each a smooth ride. She complies with all South African/Mozambique and International Maritime safety requirements. On board we have a GPS, a Fish Finder and a VHF Radio as well as all the safety equipment including plenty of life jackets. We also carry a first aid kit and an O2 kit with both free flow and demand regulator on all the dive trips.

We start to operate now with a 5m RIB, allowing us to go with only two divers per trip!
