Attractions and Activities:
Kuruman Raptor Center
The renowned Kalahari Raptor Route, starting at Kuruman's Raptor Rehabilitation
Centre - where birds in rehabilitation can be viewed at close range
Kuruman Eye
The Eye is a natural fountain delivering approximately 20 million litres
of crystal clear water daily.
Truce tree - Seodin Road
The 1914 Rebellion left its mark on Kuruman. General J Kemp and 700 rebels
invaded Kuruman to replenish their rations.
Captain Frylinck and Lieutenant Gash were responsible for the safety of
Kuruman and, after a short skirmish, the garrison surrendered. An armistice
was negotiated beneath this shady camelthorn tree.
The Wonder Caves
43km south down Daniëlskuil Road on the farm Wonderwerk. Archaeological
excavations of the 140m long cave suggest datings of more than a million
years old to the early twentieth century when members of the Boesman family
made it their home.
Rock paintings - from which graffiti was recently removed - were made
with red and yellow ochres obtained in the vicinity.
Boesmansgat
A unique natural sinkhole, renowned as the second deepest and largest
of its kind in the world.
Kalagadi Transfrontier Park
Kalahari Gemsbok National Park was proclaimed in 1931 mainly to protect
migratory game, especially the gemsbok. During the late 1990's it was
combined with the adjacent Gemsbok National Park in Botswana to form the
Kgalagadi Transfrontier Park - one of the first in the world and the first
in Southern Africa.
Tswalu Game Reserve
Tswalu, meaning ‘new beginning’ in the Tswana language, is
the largest privately owned game reserve in South Africa. The historic
home of the San and malaria-free, the reserve has over 70 species of mammals
and more than 200 bird species.
Witsand Nature Reserve
Witsand Nature Reserve is a scenic park, teeming with bird life, including
the Namaqua sandgrouse, sociable weaver and Africa's smallest raptor -
the pygmy falcon.
Namaqualand Flowers
Namaqualand is a semi-desert environment, however in the spring (July
to September) depending on the rains, a miracle occurs. As the rains soak
into the thirsty earth, millions upon millions of flowers emerge in a
phenomenal explosion of colour, which transforms the landscape into a
wonderland of beauty.
Augrabies Falls
Few sights are as awesome or a sound as deafening as water thundering
down the 56-m Augrabies Waterfall when the Orange River is in full flood.
We are looking forward to welcoming you at Casa Linge. A warm welcome,
a smile, instant unwinding and a personalized service.
