Inverurie
Gight Farmhouse, which is of Scottish traditional design, has
a modern extension called West Wing.
Set in 5 acres of land with beautiful views across the fields, woods and hills it enjoys a large garden - the ideal place to get away from the hustle and bustle of the city.
West wing is the ideal location for hill walking, cycling, golf, shooting, and the castle trail. There are many other activities besides, some of which are listed on this site.
Fishermen will find the world famous salmon fishing offered by the river Dee only 14 miles away. Trout fishing opportunities can be found on the river Don only 3 miles away and also on the river Spey 40 miles away. Also Glen Tanar, Midmar, Ballater and Strathdon all offer trout fisheries.
West Wing Accommodation
West Wing sleeps up to 4 people. It comprises of one double bedroom and one twin room with bunk beds (suitable for adults). A spacious and comfortable lounge / dining room has patio doors leading to a private garden, which has a patio table and chairs.
The fully fitted kitchen has all the modern conveniences - dishwasher, washing machine, microwave, fridge freezer etc....
All heating, linen and towels are included in the price and broadband internet access is available. We welcome children over the age of 6 years. A childrens playpark is situated in the garden within view of the cottage.
We are sorry but no pets or smoking allowed.
Activities
Golf
Gight Farmhouse is very central for some of the best golfing to be had
in the UK. There are 9 excellent courses within easy reach. For those
willing to drive a little further there is the wonderful course at Braemar
which is the highest course in the UK.
Fishing
Gight Farmhouse makes a fabulous base for fishing. We are within easy
reach of some of the finest salmon and trout rivers in Europe. Located
in some of the most rugged and beautiful countryside is the river Dee,
one of the top 4 salmon fishing rivers in the UK.
There is also the river Don which has salmon entering the river most months. May is one of the best times for sea trout, and wild brown trout all year make excellent sport. If river fishing is not your thing then there are some excellent locally fishery's nearby.
Shooting
Guests who enjoy shooting will find a plethora of sporting estates which
cater for all ages and abilities. Of course you are surrounded by magnificent
scenery, whether you choose, deer, rabbit or even clay shooting.
Skiing
Gight Farmhouse is a perfect location to base yourself this winter if
you like skiing. We have two very good ski resorts within short driving
distance. The Lecht and Glenshee Ski center.
The Lecht is 2090ft and offers all year round activities. Deval Karts, Tubing, Quad Bikes, Fun Karts amongst others are available in the summer months, and excellent skiing in the winter.
Glenshee
Has 21 lifts and 36 runs making it the largest ski center in the UK. Operating
over 4 mountains and 3 valleys Glenshee has something for everyone.
Biking
It goes without saying that the Cairngorm mountain range provides a spectacular
backdrop to any activity. If you really want to feel the mountains then
there is no better way than on a bike.

Walking
Some of the most spectacular walking in Europe is right on our doorstep.
The Cairgorms are internationally recognized as a place of special scientific
interest and outstanding beauty.

Shopping
The market towns of Alford and Inverurie are both 9 miles from Gight Farmhouse.
A large supermarket is at Westhill. The nearest General Stores/Post Office/Bank
facilities can be found at the Dunecht Garage, 3 miles.
The Deeside villages of Banchory and Aboyne are only a short drive away. Aberdeen is a large city offering all the shopping you can manage. Millers Visitor and Retail Centre with restaurant at Midmar Sauchen Antiques.

Haddo House and Balmoral Castle.

DIRECTIONS
Getting There by Car:
A944 from Aberdeen due west (16miles). Immediately prior to Sauchen village
take minor road marked Cluny and Monymusk. Half a mile take farm track
on right. Property 300yards on right.
