Halali Camp is centrally located in the Etosha National Park, about halfway between Okaukuejo and Namutoni Camps. Offering a variety of accommodation types to suit every taste and budget, the camp also has a floodlit waterhole, providing opportunities for excellent game viewing from the elevated lookout point.

A restaurant, small shop and swimming pool is available, as well as a fuel station with basic tyre-fixing services.

Set at the base of a dolomite hill and within a Mopane forest, this shaded camp can be reached through the Anderson Gate close to Okaukuejo or from Von Lindequist Gate, which is close to Namutoni. This area is surrounded by some of the most popular waterholes in the park and therefore abundant with wildlife. The animals can be viewed at the floodlit waterhole all through the night.

A wide variety of accommodation types are available at Halali, which caters for all tastes and budgets. All the accommodation facilities have air-conditioning, lamps, a tea/coffee station and a mini fridge. There are mosquito nets over the beds covered in crisp, white linen and complimentary shampoo, soap, body lotion and towels are provided.

Except for at the campsites, breakfast is included in the overnight tariff. Breakfast is served at the restaurant. Some of the units are equipped for self-catering and has barbeque facilities. For those not equipped for self-catering, lunch and dinner can be enjoyed at the restaurant.

Bush Chalets - 2 bedroom

There are ten comfortable, 2-bedroom cottages which have 2 single beds in each bedroom, accommodating a maximum of 4 adults. One bathroom is shared by all 4 guests, but the toilet is separate and private. These self-catering units are equipped with basic kitchen facilities, including a fridge, tea/coffee station, crockery and cutlery. There is a furnished outside area and barbeque facilities.

Ten smaller, 1-bedrooms chalets provide accommodation for 2 persons on 2 single beds. The bathroom has a shower and toilet. A separate kitchen and lounge area provide the necessities for basic food preparation, including a sink, kettle, crockery and cutlery. A sliding door opens the space up to the furnished outdoor patio where a barbeque can be enjoyed.

Double Rooms

Halali offers 40 Double Rooms, which are the same size as the 1-bedroom chalets, but without patio doors leading to the small outside area. There are en-suite bathrooms at each of these rooms. There is a refrigerator and coffee/tea station available, plus a comfortable armchair.

Four of the double rooms are set up to accommodate wheelchairs.

Five separate units of similar size as the 1-bedroom units are available to 2 persons each. These honeymoon units are furnished with queen-sized beds and two armchairs. A skylight above the bed provides additional light and the open plan en-suite bedroom has dual basins, a shower and toilet.

The spacious outside garden area comes with a jacuzzi, for extra spoils. Inside is a fridge and a coffee/tea station and no self-catering facilities.

Campsites

Fifty-eight campsites are available at Halali Camp. These are scattered around the premises, some with shade trees and others without. The campsites have electrical connection points, water and barbeque facilities. A maximum of 8 persons and 3 vehicles are allowed per site.

There are seven ablution blocks with hot water showers, laundry and kitchen wash-up facilities. The ablution facilities are wheelchair-friendly.

What To Do at Halali

With game viewing being the most important reason for a visit to Etosha National Park, this will be your first priority for activities. Drive out to one of the numerous waterholes around Halali and spend the day sitting in the shade of the massive trees while watching the wildlife come and go.

Professionally guided game drives are offered by the Park, which have morning, afternoon or night drives available as options.

Spend the hottest hours at the swimming pool and take some time to sit at the flood-lit waterhole at night to see the variety of animals replenishing their aquatic needs.
