Onguma is the Herero word for "the place you don't want to leave".
The Onguma Private Reserve is on the eastern side of the Etosha National Park and very close to the Von Lindequist Gate.
With 34 000 hectares of land available, there is a wide variety of animals resident to the reserve and they visit the numerous waterholes in great numbers, which make for excellent game viewing.
Being so close to Etosha, Onguma is the ideal base from which day trips can be taken into the Park, but with game drives, guided walks and bird-watching available on the premises, you don't have to go anywhere to enjoy a wonderful experience in the bush.
Take note that the Onguma Tented Camp is unfenced and therefore cannot accommodate children under 12 years old.
Onguma Tented Camp Accommodation
The seven exclusive and luxurious safari-style tents at Onguma Tented Camp are built in a semi-circle around the waterhole and each tent is fashioned into a u-shape to optimise privacy, while still providing excellent views on the natural surroundings.

The tents are decorated in sophisticated earthy tones and furnished with twin beds to accommodate two persons in each tent.
Tents are set in a semi-circle around a waterhole, each overlooking the pool. Each of the tents have a bath and an indoor as well as outdoor shower.
All have en-suite bathrooms with a separate toilet and an indoor as well as a luxurious outdoor shower giving you the opportunity to be engulfed in the natural surroundings.
Bush Suites accommodate 2 persons on twin beds in each. All the suites overlook Fisher's Pan in Etosha and are spaced far enough from the next suite to ensure privacy.
The spacious bathroom of each unit has a separate toilet, an oversized bath and an indoor as well as an outdoor shower.
Air-conditioning and a fireplace ensures comfort all through the year with the change of the seasons.
Every area of the room leads you to the viewing deck and outdoor seating area. A minibar and tea/coffee making facilities are available at each suite.
