We Kebi Safari Lodge

Sesriem, Namibia

Fourteen thatched chalets either side of a central lounge and dining hall, in the Namib where rhino and eland wander across the lawns — the lodge where the Daosa Africa family began.

The stay

Rhino on the lawn

We Kebi is where the Daosa Africa lodges started, and it still has the feel of a founding project: personal, a little idiosyncratic, and built in the owners’ own style. The thing guests remember is the wildlife on the doorstep — rhino and eland lounging on the lawn.

Fourteen thatched chalets are spread out on both sides of the lounge and dining hall. They are spacious and comfortable, built for recharging after a long drive through the desert.

Dinner is the event of the day. The kitchen builds its menu on organic red meat, poultry and fresh Atlantic fish with locally grown vegetables, and there are desert olives to go with a good African wine from the cellar while you wait.

Thatched Chalet

Fourteen thatched chalets, spread out along both sides of the lounge and dining hall so that none is far from dinner.
They are spacious and comfortable, built in Daosa’s own distinctive style, with an en-suite bathroom.

We will confirm the exact bed configuration, room facilities and meal arrangement when you enquire — the lodge does not publish a room specification, so we would rather check than guess.

What to do

Why stay at We Kebi?

The wildlife on the doorstep. Rhino and eland graze the lawns here, and antelope and wildebeest move through the property, which is not something you get at most lodges in the Namib.

The food is the other reason. We Kebi cooks with organic red meat and poultry, fresh Atlantic fish and locally grown vegetables, and there is a proper wine cellar. It holds a Booking.com Traveller Review Award for 2024, so the guests who stay seem to agree.

It is owner-run and personal rather than polished: the founding lodge of the Daosa Africa family, built to their own taste. If that appeals, you will like it.

Be clear on one thing: this is not at the Sesriem gate. It is out to the south-east, so a Sossusvlei day is a drive. If being first to the dunes at sunrise matters most, Sossus Dune Lodge is inside the gate and we will say so.

Before you book

  • Not at the Sesriem gate — ask us for the driving time to Sossusvlei for your itinerary
  • The lodge does not publish room specifications or its meal arrangement; we will confirm both for your dates
  • Drones are strictly prohibited without written permission from management — the owners enforce this and warn of confiscation
  • Park entry fees for Sossusvlei are payable at the gate

Things to see

  • Rhino and eland on the lodge lawns
  • Antelope and wildebeest on the property
  • Sossusvlei, Deadvlei and the dunes, as a day trip
  • Sesriem Canyon
  • The night sky of the Namib

Facilities

  • Swimming pool
  • Lounge and dining hall
  • Wine cellar
  • Patio and outdoor seating
  • Buffet dining with an organic, locally sourced menu

Part of Daosa Africa

We Kebi belongs to the same family of lodges as Etosha Omusati Lodge, near Etosha’s Andersson Gate, along with Desert Hills, Ocean House and Hammerstein. If you are building a self-drive around Namibia, they can be linked up and we can put the route together.

Getting there

  • In the Namib, south-east of Sesriem
  • GPS: -24.905841, 16.236763
