Some ideas of what to do at Touch of Africa Lodge
What kind of activities does we offer?
* Day and night game drives in open 4 x 4 Landcruisers
* Wildlife viewing near the Lodge Touch of Africa
* Bird viewing
* Enjoy sundowner cruises
* Bush walk with our guide
* Camp out under the Botswana sky
* Go fishing at the Chobe river
Game Viewing
It might seem like a bit of a bland statement to say that the number one
experience in Botswana is game-viewing, but that really is the case. Unlike
other countries where a good safari is often more of a combination of
travel, landscape, people and wildlife, here in Botswana the other three
elements are virtually absent and the focus is very much on the flora
and fauna. For people whose safari ambition is heavily focused on game-viewing,
then Botswana has to be top of the list.
Boating, Canoeing and Mokoro
In some areas, boating is one of the activities on offer. You
can travel out into the surrounding areas by boat looking for wild game,
birds and at the general scenery. You can even fish in certain areas.
In Botswana you will have the opportunity to explore the Okavango Delta
by mokoro (traditional dugout canoes). There is no better way to relax
in the wilderness than a mokoro trip through the Okavango Delta.
Bird Watching
Botswana is a particularly rewarding birding destination. Hot
spots here include the Okavango Delta and Chobe National Park. Over 450
bird species have been recorded in the area, and in the vicinity of the
Chobe and Linyanti rivers visitors can watch saddle-billed storks, long-toed
plovers, pink-backed pelicans, African skimmers, Bradfield's hornbills
and the jewel-like carmine bee-eaters. Heuglin's robin is a delight to
hear in the early morning.
Where is Touch of Africa Lodge?
Pandamatenga is situated about 100 km south from Kasane and 223
km from Nata, in one of the country's few arable farming areas. It's easily
to find, it is by the huge grain silos, whichstand close to the street
and beside to the endless maize fields.
There is a small border post, the office hours are from 8.00 am until
4.00 pm where you can enter and leave Zimbabwe.
The Robins Camp is 50 km away and lies in the heart of Hwange National
Park. The streets are good and there is a good transfer between chobe
and Hwange Park.
