The word “Yaang” is Indian rubber tree and “Come” in Thai means gold, so Yaang Come actually means a golden Yaang Tree in The Xishuangbanna, south of China. The village itself is unique because it tells us the story of the Tai Lue people. Tai Lue is one of the tribes in the Lanna Kingdom, which consists of many ethnic groups such as Thai Muang, Yong, Khern and Lue. The people from the Lanna Kingdom migrated from Southern of China and now live in Thailand, Laos, Vietnam and Myanmar, while some remain in Xishuangbanna.

The hotel lies at the end of a tree-lined avenue just off the western end of Sridonchai Road, its portal dwarfed by a huge Yaang tree which has stood there for more than fifty year olds. The reception area, where guests experience those all important first impressions, is indeed impressive. Unlike the enclosed, crowded, air-conditioned foyers of today’s modern hostelries, one enters an open-sided, sala, supported by stout columns and great rafters of deep red, and decorated by hand in real gold leaf. Red being a most auspicious color in China, the reception desk itself is straddled by old Chinese doors upon which are the characters of the door Gods, who protect all who pass through.

Directions to Yaang Come Village

By Air:
Domestic airlines (Thai Airways International, Bangkok Airways, Air Asia, Orient Thai Airlines and Nok Air ) operate several daily flights between Bangkok and Chiang Mai. A one-way flight takes about one hour.

By Bus:
Several ordinary and air-conditioned buses leaving daily from Bangkok's Northern Bus Terminal (also known as Mo Chit) on Kamphaeng Phet 2 Road.

By Train:
Express and rapid trains leave for Chiang Mai from Hualamphong Station several times daily and the trip takes about 11-12 hours for express trains. It is highly recommended to reserve seats well in advance, especially for sleepers.
