Baan Orapin, built in northern Thai (Lanna) styled architecture, surrounded by tall longan trees, is within easy walking distance of the Night Bazaar, Thapae gate, riverside restaurants along the Ping river, local handicraft shops, and Warorot market.

Baan Orapin, named after our grandmother, consists of the original mansion and three guest residential buildings in a peaceful one-acre plus compound filled with mature trees.

The original Baan Orapin, a graceful almost-a-century old colonial-Lanna styled teak wood mansion, was completed in 1914 and has been the family residence ever since. The guest buildings were designed with respect to the Lanna and the original mansion characters: hardwood floors, glazed ceramic floor tiles in bathrooms, clay tiles roof and delicate woodcarvings.

Baan Orapin is best for mature, independent-minded travelers. Our objective is to provide an ideal short or long stay alternative for those who look for unique Lanna living experience.

Baan Orapin is a five-minute walk to the legendary Riverside Bar & Restaurant, art galleries, boutique shops, and many restaurants along Ping River. A five-minute walk across the river via the nearby footbridge takes you to the Warorot Market, the first market in Chiang Mai. The famous night bazaar is about 10 to 15-minute walk away.

Directions to Baan Orapin

By Air:
Domestic airlines (Thai Airways International, Bangkok Airways, Air Asia, Orient Thai Airlines and Nok Air ) operate several daily flights between Bangkok and Chiang Mai. A one-way flight takes about one hour.

By Bus:
Several ordinary and air-conditioned buses leaving daily from Bangkok's Northern Bus Terminal (also known as Mo Chit) on Kamphaeng Phet 2 Road.

By Train:
Express and rapid trains leave for Chiang Mai from Hualamphong Station several times daily and the trip takes about 11-12 hours for express trains. It is highly recommended to reserve seats well in advance, especially for sleepers.
