Only an hours drive from Joburg and nestled on the banks of the Vaal River near Parys, Carryblaire River Retreat embodies peace, tranquility and a sense of oneness with nature.
With its own natural island and being a registered bird sanctuary the views offered at Carryblaire are breathtaking and some of the most beautiful in South Africa.
The Yellow fish that leap through the water are considered to rival Trout in their ability to entice fly fishermen in a challenge of wits, while the calls of the nesting Fish Eagles remind us of their superiority in the air.

Carryblaire River Retreat Accommodation

We offer 11 double rooms accommodating 24 guests on a sharing basis. Our rooms do not offer any self catering apart from a fridge and tea / coffee facilities. All our bedrooms are decoratively inspired by elements from African nature. They have thatched roofs, mosquito nets and are scattered with antique pieces collected from Parys.
Rooms can be equipped with either king size beds or 2 single beds and have full en-suite bathrooms.

Other features include fans and electric heaters / blankets for those cold winter months. The rooms offered vary from "Water Reflections and Trees of Africa" which have no private verandahs, "African Sunset", "The Croft and Waters Edge" nestled on the river banks.
Other rooms are the "Veld Flower, Serenity and Rocky Ridge" that has a deck and the "African Skies, River View and Swallows Nest" that have stunning river and garden views.

How To Get To Carryblaire River Retreat

From Johannesburg / Sasolburg
Please note that there is a 9 km dirt road. Take N1 to Bloemfontein, continue through Grasmere toll plaza and follow the N1 for approximately 90 km.
Just before the Kroonvaal toll plaza take the Parys / Sasolburg turnoff - R59, turn right towards Parys and follow the R59 towards Parys for approximately 15 km.
Just past the Parys Airfield turn right at the Vaal Eden sign then on the dirt after approximately 300 m turn left on the S1052.
Travel on dirt S1052 for approximately 9 km through several bends and Carryblaire entrance is on your left.
