Activities

Sand Boarding
Have you ever pictured yourself standing on the top of a dune and see yourself sliding down on a sand board. Feel the wind blow through your hair, while there is nothing but serine beauty surrounding you. We will show you the ropes at the lodge and you can go at your own pace with the sand board.

Guided Bird, Fynbos and Wetland Walk
Take a walk in our 235 hectare large property which is home to over 170 different bird species, with a variety of different environments, such as a 3,5 km private beachfront, 2 vast stretches of dunes, wetlands, woodlands, river deltas and a variety of fynbos. There is a dedicated trail for this walk. The guide will take you along the trail and show you all that is to be seen and a whole lot more (minimum of 2 persons)

Horse Riding
Explore the coastal reserve and private beach on one of our free roaming horses. Even beginners can enjoy this bucket list experience as an experienced guide will join you on your ride through the dunes and “fynbos”. The more experienced rider can have a breathtaking gallop alongside the waves of the Indian Ocean.

Dune Safari
Relax and enjoy a drive through our wetlands, lagoons, woodlands and fynbos on our open safari ecofriendly vehicle.  We stop at the highest point of our property to enjoy the unimpeded view of Slangbaai, the Indian Ocean including the 18 century Cape St Francis lighthouse - a good 15km away while enjoying birding and whale watching.  Our late afternoon drive includes sundowners and refreshments.

Mountain Biking
A real challenge! Explore 235 ha of nature on a mountain bike as the trails go over dunes, through the river and on the beach. A good health and condition is needed!  An option is the 22km ride on dirt road

Hiking
Four different well marked hiking trails have been set out on the Coastal reserve. They are marked with different colours and vary from 3 to 7,5 km. Breath in the fresh air of the “fynbos” and listen to the sounds of nature and extensive birdlife.

River Kayak
Explore our property by kayak.  Meander down the river and onto the beach.  See the sights of our horses, buck, and a variety of bird life, such as the Kingfisher and the African Fish Eagle.  The option is available to anchor the kayak and enjoy a picnic at one of our private decks.

Swimming
Try to keep your head above the water in the waves of the Indian Ocean, but be careful of the strong current, so don’t go too far! After a refreshing splash in the sea, enjoy a real swim in our freshwater swimming pool and catch a bit of sun for a nice tan.

Picnic
To look after your appetite, we recommend to enjoy a picnic on one of our viewing decks. Our friendly staff will gladly prepare a delicious picnic basket for you. Just let us now when and where and one of our experienced guides will bring the basket to you on horseback!

Geo-Caching
Explore our property with our clues to reach the 'gold mine'.  If you are keen your first clue is.... Where the river and the dune meets, you will be looking for a treasure chest.  The point of Geo-caching is to replace an item of equal value into the boxes.  You may end up walking away with a South African treasure.  Within the chest you will receive your next clue.  Have fun!!!

Township Tour
Take a guided tour through Umzamuwethu.  Visit the crèche, where you'll be able to meet all the townships little ones.  Experience what the local schooling system is all about.  Enjoy a tantalizing cup of tea served by the locals and join the children for lunch.  Stroll in the streets and meet the locals. (Minimum of 2 persons)
