Benmore Lodge is situated above Kei Mouth, in rugged, steep, bushveld countryside. It nestles in typical Transkei rural scenery with scattered dwellings in the distant rolling Transkei hills. There is an amazing variety of birdlife. Game viewing features eland, impala, bontebok, kudu, bushbuck and wildebeest zebra. Benmore Farm, on which Benmore Lodge is situated, is a delight
to explore on foot; from a short stroll to the Strelitzia fields
to an adventurous circle route on foot and boat via the Kei River
to the village of Kei Mouth. |

Two-bedroomed Chalets
The main bedrooms have king-size beds or two single beds. The second bedrooms
have two single beds in each and there is a sleeper couch in each lounge.
The bedrooms are large and airy with ceiling fans. The dressing tables
have plug points for hairdryers and cell phone chargers.
The bedrooms have built-in cupboards with hangers supplied. The bathrooms have both showers and baths. The kitchens are fully equipped, including toasters, kettles, microwaves and fridge-freezers. The lounge areas are large and airy, with sliding doors opening onto decks. The dining areas also overlook the game reserve.
Two-bedroomed Bungalows
Each bungalow has two bedrooms; one room has a king-size bed and other
room has two single beds. There are also loft areas with two single beds
in each. The bathrooms have large showers. The lounges and open-plan kitchens
are fully equipped with fridge-freezers, microwaves, stoves, kettles and
toasters.
Two-Bedroom Flat let
Each unit contains two bedrooms; the main bedroom contains either a king-size
bed or twin single beds and the second bedroom contains twin single beds.
All duvets and linen are supplied but please bring your own bath and beach
towels. The bathrooms have showers and the kitchens are fully equipped,
including toasters, kettles, microwaves and fridge-freezers.
Activities
Tranquility and privacy are keynotes of your stay at Kei Mouth when you
visit at Benmore Lodge. December has daily activities for children of
all ages on the beach; lifeguards on duty in holiday season. The Shed,
a pub n grub, hosts Kei Mouth's most popular New Year’s Eve party
as well as milestone dates throughout the year.
Once a cow shed on historic Benmore Farm, The Shed is a real haven of tranquility. It is a short walk from the chalets of Benmore Lodge. Combining Benmore Lodge and The Shed you have an ideal party venue for those special occasions; no driving necessary after the party.
There are spacious, comfortable braai facilities which are at the disposal of guests, and braai packs can be bought from the pub. Life doesn't get much better than sitting on the deck outside The Shed, enjoying a sundowner and watching the birds and buck.
It is an ideal venue for families. Children can roam around and experience farm life, see the wild ducks on the dam and the horses, chickens and cows. In the morning, our resident blue crane graces the farm with his regal presence. Peace and quiet, friendship and good times are all part of life at The Shed.
