Morgentau Bed and Breakfast is named after the morning dew, which is inherent to the Kranskop/Hermannsburg region of Kwazulu Natal.

This Bed and Breakfast lies at 1,200 metres above sea level. The Hermannsburg/Kranskop area is extremely picturesque with valleys, mountains, rivers and dramatic krantzes.

Beautifully preserved meadows abound with wild flowers and a wide variety of birds. Hermansburg is a historic tourist attraction.

Morgentau Bed and Breakfast

Morgentau Bed and Breakfast Accommodation

At Morgentau Bed and Breakfast you find wonderful hospitality, food and relaxation, peace and quiet. It is an idyllic haven for the weary traveller. Quanta, your hostess, makes you feel welcome, gives you personal attention, spoils you and imbues the Guesthouse with a grounded cosmopolitan simplicity.

The accommodation is warm and stylish with a hearty honesty. Quanta is a 4th generation South African of German extraction and speaks fluent German and English. Her ancestors came to the Hermannsburg area in the 1860s as missionaries.

If you are looking for a cultural feast Morgentau Bed and Breakfast is the place to be. Morgentau Bed and Breakfast is a jewel between German and Zulu Culture. Here a guest is embraced with hospitality and warmth and kindness. It is an inspirational environment for innovative thoughts and harmony.

The Guesthouse consists of 3 tastefully decorated en-suite bedrooms. Klimt, Waterhouse and Mucha adorn the walls and the mix of old and new furniture has been used very successfully. Quanta spares no effort to make her guests feel welcome and at home.

The emphasis is on rest and relaxation. Soft music and candlelight accompany the guests at a beautifully decorated dinner table. Fresh blossoms, rose petals or gem stones are the favourite table decoration. The rooms of this Bed and Breakfast are comfortable with tea trays end en-suite bathrooms. The rooms are individually decorated and all have Quants charm.

The Bed and Breakfast / Guesthouse was built by Quanta’s father in 1948. The trees that her grandfather planted 90 years ago are still standing and watching over the house and are home to many a bird. When you arrive horses, grazing in the meadow, look curiously over the fence welcoming the new guests.

Zita and Pia, Quanta’s dogs, bond instantly with new guests. The park like garden has huge trees, clipped hedges and a fountain built by Quanta’s father.

Dining

Meals are home cooked and delicious. Every few days there is either Baboti or curry to embrace a typical South African dish. The dinner is 3 course and fresh vegetables are used from the vegetable garden. Vegetarians are welcome.

Breakfast is scrumptious and includes homemade bread, a beautifully decorated fruit platter and no effort is spared to please and spoil everyone.
