About Us
The original section of this comfortable, charming home was built in 1906
and is surrounded by magnificent trees some 100 years old.
The garden has numerous areas where guests can relax, the pool or follow
the babbling stream through eighty acres of natural fauna and flora.
The African thatch provides a cool haven in summer and in winter the oil heaters in each room, under floor heating in the main entertainment areas and the open fireplace make it cozy and warm.
La Chaumiere Accommodation
Options of accommodation include a choice of either one of the four guest rooms - Two very spacious rooms, one above the other on the one side of the house, 'Kosmos Kamer' and 'Die Bo Kamer' and two smaller cozy rooms on the other side, also one above the other, 'Tuin Kamer' and 'Voëltjie Kamer'.
Three of these are bathroom en-suite and the fourth room has a private
bathroom at the foot of the stairs. All the beds have electric blankets
in winter and three windows each over looking the gardens.
The other option is our private cozy stone and thatch cabin - 'La Cabernon'.
We have kettles and coffee / tea trays with Mara's homemade rusks, fresh
fruit and sweeties in each room.
La Chaumiere Facilities
Other facilities include laundry on request, satellite television in
each room and secure parking. We share our home with our guests. We have
a communal TV room where Mara has a marvelous collection of books, magazines
and games. Some of the magazines are from way back 1950's.
- Picnic baskets or light lunches can be arranged.
- Self catering is another option where you can enjoy your own braai using
our bush kitchen next to the pool deck. Bring own briquettes and we supply
all other utensils. A fridge is available there for keeping your eats
and drinks cool.
- Breakfast arranged at your leisure is served on the verandah overlooking
the beautiful garden. The menu consists of traditional and health-conscious
breakfasts with Mara's wonderful homemade jams and chutneys.
We offer self-catering weddings and seminars.
We pride ourselves on the service we offer and make sure that guests feel
absolutely at home.
A big breakfast is included in our prices. Family packages are offered
on request. (i.e. children)
"Voëltjie Kamer" is a cozy room downstairs
with two single beds and an en-suite bathroom. Stone featured walls and
bamboo ceiling create a lovely African feel. This room has a peaceful
ambiance with a great view of the 100 year old blue gum trees.
"Tuin Kamer" is a cozy room upstairs with
a queen size bed. It has an en-suite bathroom with stone featured walls
and thatch ceiling giving it a lovely African feel.
The view from this room is glorious as you can feel nature creeping in
through the windows and the wonderful smell of the moon flowers.
"Kosmos Kamer" is a spacious room upstairs with a king size
bed and 2 single beds, which can sleep four guests comfortably.
It is furnished with antique pieces and has three lovely paintings of
cosmos hanging on the stone featured walls which is the incentive for
the name of this room.
It has a full en-suite bathroom with huge mirrors. This room is often
used for brides to dress in before they are married and afterwards as
a honeymoon suite.
It can also be utilized as a family room. The view from each of the three
windows is magnificent as it over looks the lush garden.
"Die Bo Kamer" is a spacious room upstairs
with a queen size bed and two single beds which sleeps four guests comfortably.
Looking from the windows you have a view of the pool and lush garden.
It has a private downstairs bathroom.
"La Cabernon" is a self catering chalet. It
is open plan with a bedroom and lounge area, kitchenette and en-suite
bathroom. The lovely, tranquil private garden is a perfect place to unwind
from city life.

La Chaumiere hosts small intimate business meetings, seminars, functions, private picnics and weddings in a magnificent, lush, park like garden near Lanseria, just 20 minutes from Johannesburg. This luxurious family guesthouse with its four bedroom and one stone, thatch cabin offers unique facilities.
Weddings:
Each wedding is unique as the engaged couple plan their ceremony to suit
their needs. In complete privacy and tranquility we have hosted dreamy
ceremonies with magical exchanges of vows under our African thatched open
chapel in our magnificent gardens to intimate indoor dinners.
Our stunning garden is a wonderful setting for the photographs and our
lovely "Kosmos Kamer" is a great place for the bride and her
bridesmaids to dress for the ceremony.
Picnics:
For the spirited a splendid treat, is to savour our fabulous picnic basket
packed with all sorts of delicious goodies from Mara's kitchen, overlooking
the sparkling pool and lush green park like gardens or bring your own
goodies, using the lapa kitchen and braai facilities.

Homestay. A B&B Homestay is an individually or family-owned establishment
which has under 10 rooms. You are likely to stay in the same house as
the family and the emphasis is on meeting and mixing with the family.

Directions:
We are conveniently situated on the Route R512 (Yellow gate number of
our Guest House is K51) between Lanseria and Broederstroom en-route to
Sun City and easily accessible to many interesting places in the area.
We are located within the ancient Cradle of Humankind a world heritage
site.
