The "Jewel of Hogsback" - Maylodge Country Cottages offers tranquil surroundings for people who wish to be far from the madding crowds. Our gardens are extensive and magnificent right throughout the seasons. Our six self-catering dwellings offer comfort, privacy and intimacy. Maylodge is equally beautiful in the heart of summer and in the dead of winter. Maylodge Country Cottages is situated in the heart of the village
within walking distance of a number of restaurants, pubs and hikes.

Within Hogsback are several activities one can pursue. Hogsback offers hiking, cycling, birding, restaurants, friendly and intimate pubs and several other activities. In addition, there are several galleries offering a range of items from photographs to pottery and paintings. Vivienne looks forward to welcoming you to the "Jewel of Hogsback".
Maylodge Country Cottages Accommodation
At Maylodge, Hogsback, Eastern Cape we have six independent units all of which offer comfortable, private self-catering accommodation. All cottages offer barbeque (braai) facilities, fireplaces and each room has a bathroom. Each cottage is surrounded by ample private space. Our emphasis is on comfortable family accommodation.
Activities in Hogsback:
Hiking
There are several walking trails within Hogsback. A number of them start
at the arboretum in the centre of Hogsback. A number of the trails are
a very convenient walking distance away from Maylodge. They range in difficulty
from very easy to quite arduous. Please enquire at reception before embarking
on a trail.
Restaurants
There are delightful, atmospheric eateries within Hogsback that offer
a selection of various foods. At busy times of the year booking is essential.

Birding
There is an exciting variety of birds in Hogsback. The very rare Cape
Brown Parrot takes up residence in Hogsback. They are very scarce within
South Africa; can be seen and heard flying over Maylodge in the mornings
and afternoons.
Pubs
Hogsback has several intimate country-style pubs where locals and visitors
alike can enjoy the passing hours around raging fires. Please enquire
at reception as a number of these pubs only cater for patrons during the
busy periods.
