Sinulog 2016

When Portuguese explorer Ferdinand Magellan arrived to the Philippines in the 16th century, he gave a statue of baby Jesus, Santo Niño de Cebú, as a present to the wife of the local chieftain.
The wooden Santo Niño is until today a symbol of friendship and conversion to Christianity. The Sinulog Festival captures in a uniquely multi-hued and lush way this prosperous intertwinement of cultures and traditions, with a pulsating rhythm of drums and local gongs, and wild dancers dressed in extravagant, bright, and startling costumes.

In the liveliest street festival of the Philippines, moving with the crowd through the streets, stopping every now and then at one of the many vendors aligned along the route, you’ll stop feeling like a stranger in Cebu City! What is more, you will have a chance to experience some of the best fireworks displays that you’ve ever seen, rendering festival a truly unforgettable experience!
