Taiyo Beach Cottages

Located near the halfway point of Caalan Beach, Taiyo is made up of several buildings on a large piece of property. A few of the rooms have sea facing balconies with great sunset views, and most can sleep from three to four people; all have hot water.

Our Cottages

El Nido Cottages at Taiyo Resort is located near El Nido Town in the Philippines Palawan Island. We are located right off the beach, which is directly in front of the resort. The resort offers a stunning view of nearby Cadlao Island, which is a frequent picnic and snorkling destination for island hoppers. As you enter the resort from the beach, you will see a seaside lounge where you can enjoy your breakfast or just relax. The seaside view from inside the lounge is sensational. Opposite the lounge is an open-air gazebo that looks out onto the beach. The grounds include a beautiful garden that you’ll pass through on the way to our six cottages. On the left is a brand new cottage.

On the right is another brand new cottage, just about identical to the first. The cottages look out onto a garden. The sea is a stone’s throw away, and sound of the waves may lull you to sleep. All our cottages have a porch where you can relax, or put your flip flops on before setting out for a day of island hopping. Each cottage has two double beds, ventilated windows with window screens, and a heated shower. Note that local electrical power runs from 3pm to 3am; we also have an electrical generator we can use when local power is out. There is no air conditioning, but the ventilated windows really keep you cool.

About Us

We are Al and Naoko Hiler, a married couple that owns and operates the El Nido Cottages at Taiyo Resort.

Naoko Hiler is your host at El Nido Cottages. Originally from Tokyo, Japan, she lived in the States for many years. She has spent the last decade living in the Philippines, where also she learned to speak Tagalog. Naoko’s lifetime love for making beautiful things, gardening, and making sure everyone has a great time have come together as she designed and built the Taiyo Resort.

Al Hiler is a retired American engineer. After designing and helping build local roads and bridges, Al fell in love with the people and beaches of El Nido. Al also coordinates with the local authorities to ensure all building and environmental regulations are met.

Directions to Taiyo Beach Cottages

There are two options going to El Nido by plane first is Manila to El Nido chartered flight which is a direct flight but should be booked in advance. The second option is a direct flight to Puerto Princesa Airport upon arrival, take the 6 hour land trip from the airport to El Nido Town via aircon and non aircon bus public transport or private vans. Bus are located in San Jose Terminal in Puerto Princesa. It takes 30 minutes from El Nido downtown to the resort. Its 6 minutes from Taiyo Beach Cottages to airport.
