Welcome to East Gate, Namibia.

This is your home away from home... an oasis on the Trans Kalahari highway which is the strategic coast-to-coast route linking Maputo, Mozambique on the Indian Ocean to Walvisbay on the Atlantic coastline of Namibia.

Our accommodation establishment is situated 400m from the Buitepos borderpost between Namibia and Botswana and just the place to care for all your needs after a long day of travelling.

Buitepos is the main access point to the centre of Namibia and all tourism attractions this vast, sparsely populated country has to offer.

Officially, East Gate is a self-catering rest camp, but it's really so much more. Our extended facilities are nestled in the refreshing landscape of Omaheke, one of the eleven administrative region of Namibia.

Omaheke is the Herero word for sandveld (sand terrain), which is appropriate.

The Van Vuuren-family, invites you to experience "home" with us.

East Gate, Namibia offers accommodation facilities at the Buitepos borderpost between Namibia and Botswana. Travellers of the Trans Kalahari Highway enjoy our immaculate accommodation, beautiful surroundings and peaceful nature.

Our Buitepos accommodation prooves to be the ideal stop-over for all traffic from Botswana to Namibia or visa versa. If you are on your way from Windhoek, Namibia to Johannesburg, South Africa, this route is the shortest and most interesting way to go. We are only a one-day drive from Johannesburg.

Camping Facilities
We have camping sites available at either East Gate Rest Camp.
The sites are equipped with ablution facilities, electricity (only electric lights at the Bush Camp) and barbecue pits and grills.

Service Station
Make sure to fuel up at East Gate. We are conveniently located at the Buitepos border post between Namibia and Botswana.
We have Unleaded Petrol, Premium Petrol and Diesel available.

Shop
Buy fresh produce and basic groceries, a selection of wine, malt and light alcoholic beverages in our shop. We also have ice available.
Take notice that we do exchange smaller amounts of Pula, Rand, US dollar, Euro, British Pound and Namibian Dollars for visitors.
Maps and brochures on Namibia travel- and tourist destinations are available.

Coffee Shop & Restaurant
Sit and relax whilst having a well-prepared meal to refresh your body and mind.
We serve you Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner from a mini a la carte menu.
We also prepare for you lunchpacks, take-aways or picnic-baskets for the next leg of your journey. Make sure to request these when you book your accommodation at East Gate.

Swimming Pool
During Namibia's summer months, there is no better way to relax and cool down in the hot climate, than to take a swim. Our guests enjoy this additional amenity.
Note that the swimming pool is available for guests only.
