Situated on the Waterberg Plateau and comprises mountainous terrain that is dissected by deep valleys and kloofs, with occasional old lands that have been allowed to regenerate since the reserve’s proclamation. Flat plateaus characterise most hilltops, and altitude varies from 1080m above sea level at the main entrance gate in the north of the reserve to 1800m above sea level in the southern section of the reserve.
Sekala is a mere two and a half hours drive from Johannesburg and one and a half hours from Pretoria – South Africa’s capital city.
Sekala Game Lodge Accommodation
Nestled in Welgevonden bush, Sekala has two main lodges, five double chalets which sleep two people in each and one executive suit which sleeps a family of four. Private outdoor shower in every chalet ad Library and lounge area at the main lodge.
Boma dinners under the stars by our chef, by arrangement.

Useful Info:
Remember to bring:
· Camera, binoculars, bird and wildlife reference books, a hat
and sunscreen lotion.
· Cool clothing for summer and warm for winter are advised as the
region is subject to sudden weather changes, particularly in the mountains.
Seasonal info:
· Summer (October – March) temperatures range from a minimum
of 14°C to a maximum of 36°C
· The wet season extends from October to March with hot days and
warm nights
· Winter temperatures range from a minimum of 2°C to a maximum
of 22°C
· The dry season extends from May to September with warm days and
cold nights
Location
Sekala Private Game Lodge is situated in the Welgevonden Game Reserve,
bordering the Marakele National Park, in the Waterberg Mountain Range,
Limpopo Province. It is approximately 250km north of Johannesburg, in
a malaria-free area. There are two airstrips in the reserve making access
easy.
Directions:
· From Johannesburg, take the N1 North Highway.
· Continue on the N1 passing Midrand and heading towards Pretoria.
· Before reaching Pretoria take the Pietersburg / Polokwane Highway
which forms part of the N1.
· Remain on the N1 Highway, passing the Caroussel Entertainment
Complex and Warmbaths turn-offs.
· At the Kranskop Toll Gate, take the left hand gate and off-ramp
to Nylstroom.
· Travel through Nylstroom and head towards Vallwater (60km).
· Continue driving straight through Vaalwater.
· 24km from Vaalwater on the left hand side is the Welgevonden
Main Gate.
· Our game ranger from Sekala will be there to meet the guests.
