We have three self-catering cottages in the large garden on the farm “Madrid”, which has been in the Mousley family for 134 years.
The cottages are close enough to the homestead to be very safe but still out of site of one another.

Also in the garden is a Banksia rose which was planted soon after the first George Bennett Mousley arrived to take up residence during the early 1870s.
The present generations farming here are the fourth and fifth Mousleys to take up the challenges involved in farming on this farm.

Madrid Farm Cottages Accommodation

All the cottages have open-plan living areas with fully equipped kitchens, (stove with oven, microwave and fridge, kettle, toaster, dishcloths, dishwashing liquid & scourer included).

There are open fireplaces as well as private braai areas with views of the garden and mountains. Bath soap and liquid hand washing soap is provided.
Linen is provided (except swimming towels) as well as extra blankets, electric blankets, heaters and fans. Complimentary tea, coffee, sugar and creamer provided on arrival.

Sunrise Cottage
Is a weathered sandstone cottage with the main bedroom opening out onto the patio and a second bedroom with en suite bathroom.
The shower room opens off the small hallway between the two bedrooms. Optional King-sized or single beds. This cottage sleeps two extra guests on pull-out beds with bases and good foam mattresses.
Suitable for children or small adults. The lawn in front of the cottage is ideal for children to play under the watchful eyes of their parents relaxing on the patio. From here there is a lovely view across the garden towards the mountains.

Sunshine Cottage
Is also built with old sandstone , having two double bedrooms with en suite bathrooms (one shower, one bath). Optional King-sized or single beds.
This cottage was built in 2003 with stone from a redundant lucerne shed and has its own fenced lawned garden with a view across an old orchard towards the mountains.

Sunset Cottage
Is a plastered brick building, having one double bedroom and one bathroom with a bath. This very private cottage is ideal for a honeymoon or a couple breaking away for a weekend alone.
From the stoep one can look across the lawn and rose-garden towards a ridge which protects the garden from the west wind.

Madrid Farm Cottages Facilities

The cottages are serviced daily and in winter the first bag of wood each day is provided free of charge. Extra wood is available at an additional charge per bag but guests are also welcome to bring their own. (please note this wood is not suitable for braais).

There are no TVs in the cottages. Guests are welcome to bring their own radios or CD players but are requested to consider other guests when playing their music. Smokers are requested to smoke outside and we regret that no pets are allowed.
