Staffa Accommodation

Staffa is a modern, detached, cottage with double glazing throughout located in the quiet crofting village of Aultgrishan near Gairloch in a Designated National Scenic Area and is situated approx. 200 yards from the shore.

The cottage is set on a plateau which gives excellent views across the Inner Sound and Minch to Skye, Harris and Lewis from the lounge picture window. The Beinn Eighe Nature Reserve and the Torridon Mountains are just a short distance away and is a great place for walking.

The main bedroom has a king size bed and fitted wardrobe. Second bedroom has twin beds with wardrobe. Both bedrooms have pine furnishings. Cot available for 1 baby. The bathroom has a modern suite with overbath shower, WC, shaver point, heater and heated towel rail.

Comfortable, extremely well furnished lounge with feature stone fireplace, electric fire, two large settees, colour TV with Sky Freeview and DVD, VCR, radio/cassette/CD player, bookcase and standard lamp. There is an adjacent dining area.

The fully fitted integrated modern kitchen overlooks the picturesque village of Melvaig. It is well equipped with electric cooker, dishwasher, microwave, fridge and freezer, washer/dryer, toaster, etc., plus a good range of cooking utensils.

Sheets, pillow cases, bath and hand towels, and tea towels, can be provided at an extra charge. Electricity is metered and the amount will be deducted from your retainer. The meter will be read on arrival and departure.

Bookings are from Friday 4.00pm to Friday 9.30am. Parking space for 2 cars at the rear of the cottage. Well behaved dogs accepted.

Attractions
Aultgrishan has a cafe bar/restaurant only a few minutes away. The area's attractions include whale-watching and marine-life trips, including visits to the puffin colonies on the Shiant islands, salmon, trout and sea-fishing, a golf course and pony trekking. Also, bike hire, a deer museum and Inverewe Gardens, are some other attractions to name but a few.

The coastline around Aultgrishan and to Rua Reidh Lighthouse (approx. 4 miles north) is rugged, a haven for nesting birds, seals, whales and otters. Fishing trips and guided hill walks available locally by prior arrangement.

. Gairloch (20 minutes) has hotels, shops, doctors and a dental surgery.

DIRECTIONS
Getting there from the Information Centre:

From Gairloch Tourist Information Centre, turn right onto the B8021 signposted to Big Sand and Melvaig. Follow this road for approximately 10 miles until you see a sign for Aultgrishan.

Getting There by Railway:
From Achnasheen railway station, take the A832 to Gairloch. At Gairloch you will see a sign at a T junction with the McColl's store. Turn left onto the B8021, sign posted Big Sand and Melvaig. Follow this road for approximately 10 miles until you see a sign for Aultgrishan.

Getting there by Aeroplane:
From Inverness airport, take the A9 to Kessock Bridge, then the A835 and A832 to Connon Bridge, Achnasheen and on to Gairloch. At Gairloch you will see a sign at a T junction with the McColl's store. Take the left turn (B8021), sign posted to Big Sand and Melvaig. Follow this road for approximately 10 miles until you see a sign for Aultgrishan.

Getting There by Ferry:
From Ullapool ferry terminal, take the A835 then the A832 coastal route passing Loch Broom and Grunyard Bay, Loch Yew to Gairloch. At Gairloch you will see the McColl's store on the left at the T junction, take the B8021 road left, sign posted to Big Sand and Melvaig.
