GLENDALE
BARN is fully modernized, attractive first-floor cottage style
apartment, has been converted from the 19th century stone built barn,
attached to ‘GLENDALE’ cottage and Fuchsia
Centre, in the small hamlet of Houndwood, in the Scottish Borders, with
beautiful views over the surrounding countryside.
Glendale Barn Accommodation
GLENDALE BARN’ apartment is completely self-contained,
and sleeps two persons, having one double-bedroom, bathroom with shower
over a light and sunny open-plan sitting-room/fully fitted kitchen diner;
and washing machine.
Heating and lighting (all electric), and bed-linen are provided at no
extra charge.
During the summer months, visitors are welcome to share and enjoy the
owner’s Fuchsia garden, with small award winning Tea-room open from
10a.m. until 4.30pm., serving home-made cakes and scones.
Please note we accept 1 child sleeping in a cot.
There are no shopping facilities at Houndwood, however, a Morrison’s
Superstore is situated on the Al at Berwick-upon-Tweed, and there is an
Asda Supermarket at Dunbar.
The nearby villages of Reston and Ayton have a Post Office
and General Store, as does Coldingham, with its cliff walks and sandy
bays.
The nearest town is Eyemouth, which has a busy harbour, an array of small
shops, eating places (including two Award-winning Fish’n’Chip
shops), and wide beach, with promenade.
The Barn apartment is perfectly situated for exploring
the historic Scottish Borders, as well as the spectacular coastline of
Northumberland.
A local ‘bus service between Berwick and Edinburgh (stopping at
Houndwood) is available every two hours, and frequent trains are from
Berwick and Dunbar.

There are thriving sub-aqua clubs at nearby St. Abbs, and the historic
fishing town of Eyemouth, whilst the whole of the area caters for golfing,
walking, horse-riding, and fishing.
Directions
Conveniently adjacent to the A1, and approximately 13 miles from the walled
town of Berwick-upon-Tweed, 25 miles from the Holy Island of Lindisfarne,
and 45 miles from the cultural City of Edinburgh, the magnificent coastline
with its cliff walks, sandy bays, and nature reserves is only six miles
away.
