But The King James is a suitably royal name for a hotel located just off Edinburgh’s world-famous Princes Street, and just a short walk from the Royal Mile, dominated by Edinburgh Castle at one end and the palace of Holyroodhouse, still the Queen’s official residence in the Scottish capital, at the other.

Our largest function room, the Lothian Room, seats up to 250 people theatre-style, making it suitable for press conferences, product launches and larger meetings. Decorated in classic Scottish style, it’s also one of Edinburgh’s most popular wedding venues. This large, flexible space can be divided into four smaller rooms, for parties of between 25 and 150.

We have three further rooms suitable for board and team meetings, training sessions, presentations, interviews and private dining.

All our meeting rooms come fully equipped with:

Your Wedding With The King James
For a wedding in Edinburgh, nothing else comes close. Your choice of wedding venue is a huge decision. At The King James, we provide a completely bespoke wedding service, in which every aspect of your day, from the room layout to the wine list, food to flower arrangements, is yours to choose.

At The King James, we have eight air-conditioned function rooms, all of which can be arranged and configured to suit your exact requirements. The largest is the Lothian Suite, decorated in classic Scottish style, which seats up to 250 guests for an evening reception; it also has its own bar area, and can be divided into four smaller rooms - Forth, Newhaven, Trinity and Cramond - if you’re looking for something smaller.

The Holyrood is suitable for 30 guests for a wedding breakfast or 40 for your reception. And if you’re planning a private celebration with a few close friends and family, our recently refurbished Calton and Pentland rooms can seat up to 25 for civil ceremonies, or wedding breakfasts for just 12 guests.

Beautifully furnished in soft neutral tones, these light, airy rooms are located on the 6th floor, with large windows offering magnificent views across Calton Hill.

From Tourist Information Centre above Waverley Station, cross Princes Street and head east towards the St James Shopping Centre. The hotel entrance is adjacent (downhill).

From Waverley Station, cross Princes Street and head east towards the St James Shopping Centre. The hotel entrance is adjacent (downhill).

Getting there by Aeroplane:
From Edinburgh Airport follow signs for the city centre. Direct route approximately 8 miles away.
