The stay

A quiet guesthouse on the edge of the city centre

Olive Grove sits on Promenaden Road in Klein Windhoek, the leafy suburb just east of the city centre. The street is residential and quiet, yet the shops, restaurants and landmarks of central Windhoek are within walking distance — or a few minutes by car if the midday sun is up.

With only eleven rooms, it feels more like a well-run home than a hotel. The decor is simple and elegant: rustic cement finishes, off-white linen and wrought-iron furniture, with a lounge and fireplace for cool winter evenings.

The kitchen is open-plan, so you can watch dinner being made from the lounge with a drink in hand. The restaurant serves breakfast, lunch and dinner with a Namibian leaning, and packed lunches can be made up for the road. The team can also arrange transfers from Hosea Kutako International or Eros Airport, and lifts around town.

Classic Rooms

Five ground-floor rooms for up to two adults, made up with twin beds or a double.
Each has air-conditioning with heating, a TV with Netflix, a stocked minibar fridge, a safe and a tea and coffee station, plus an outside seating area.

They share the same finishes as the Terrace Rooms but sit closer to reception and the restaurant, so they are a little less private and not quite as quiet.

Terrace Rooms

Five upstairs rooms for up to two adults, with twin beds or a king.
Each opens onto a wide veranda with a table and chairs — good for breakfast outside or a quiet drink looking over the garden and the open Namibian sky.

Inside you get the same comforts as the Classic Rooms: air-conditioning and heating, Netflix, a stocked minibar and turndown in the evening. Some rooms inter-lead, which suits families of up to four.

Terrace Suite

The one suite in the house, with a king-size bed in its own bedroom and a separate lounge and dining area.
The bathroom is the most generous at Olive Grove, made for a long, unhurried soak after a day on the road.

What to do

Why stay at Olive Grove Guesthouse?

It puts you in Windhoek without the noise of it. Klein Windhoek is a green, residential corner of the city, and Olive Grove is small enough that the staff know your name by breakfast. Yet you can walk into the centre, and Hosea Kutako International Airport is roughly 45 minutes away by road.

That makes it a sensible first night after a long-haul flight: collect your hire car, sleep well, and head off in the morning — south-west towards Sossusvlei, west to Swakopmund or north to Etosha. At the end of a trip it is just as useful for a last night close to the airport, with time for a final walk around town.

On the days you stay put, cool off in the plunge pool, have lunch on the terrace, or let the team arrange tours, restaurant bookings and taxis around the city.
