Windhoek · Olympia, on the banks of the Arebbusch River

Arebbusch Travel Lodge

Windhoek, Namibia

Bed-and-breakfast rooms, self-catering chalets, cottages and villas, safari-style tents and a campsite, all in leafy, secure grounds about ten minutes from the city centre. A restaurant, a wood-fired pizzeria and pools on site — whatever your budget or group size, there is a way to stay here.

The stay

A natural setting on the edge of the city

Arebbusch has been welcoming travellers since 1993. It sits along the usually dry Arebbusch River in the suburb of Olympia, on the southern side of Windhoek, with indigenous gardens, lawns and enough open veld that you forget the city is only ten minutes away.

What sets it apart is choice. Couples and business travellers take the B&B rooms, families and groups spread out in the chalets, cottages and villas, and overlanders pitch up at the campsite — all sharing the same restaurant, pizzeria and pools. It was named Best Bed & Breakfast in the 2026 Best of Namibia Awards.

The grounds are secure and the lodge runs partly on solar power. More than 35 bird species have been recorded on the property, along with small mammals and reptiles, and Arebbusch Park — a quiet garden corner with a thatched lapa, bar, decks and a boma — is kept for staying guests only.

What to do

Why stay at Arebbusch Travel Lodge?

It is one of the most practical bases in Windhoek. You are close enough to the city for shopping, dinner out or a meeting, Eros Airport is about five minutes away, and the B1 south and the road out to Hosea Kutako International are both easy to reach — handy on the first or last night of a self-drive.

Yet it feels like a lodge rather than a city hotel. Breakfast is a full buffet, the restaurant serves à la carte lunches and dinners, the pizzeria fires up wood-oven pizzas, and in the late afternoon Arebbusch Park is the place for a sundowner among the birds.

For other places to stay in and around the capital, see our Windhoek accommodation page.
