Windhoek · Am Weinberg Estate, Jan Jonker Road

The Weinberg

Windhoek, Namibia

A stylish Gondwana hotel wrapped around a heritage building at the heart of the Am Weinberg Estate. Courtyard rooms, double-volume lofts and a private Terrace Suite, with restaurants and a day spa on the estate and sunset views across the valley from the Sky Lounge.

The stay

Old-world splendour, modern lines

The Weinberg — German for “vineyard” — stands on Jan Jonker Road, a few minutes’ drive from Windhoek’s city centre. Its contemporary wings wrap around a historic building that forms the heart of the Am Weinberg Estate, a lifestyle complex with restaurants in several styles and the Life Day Spa.

Rooms are arranged around a central courtyard with a fountain: some open straight onto it, others look down from private balconies, and the double-volume lofts add a lounge and kitchenette. At the top of the estate sits the Terrace Suite, a private two-bedroom apartment with its own garage.

As the light fades, head up to the Sky Lounge for light meals and a glass from the extensive wine list, with panoramic views over the valley. It is part of the Gondwana Collection, so the team can also help plan the rest of your route through Namibia.

What to do

Why stay at The Weinberg?

It combines the polish of a city hotel with the feel of a boutique stay. The rooms are calm and well equipped, the estate gives you dinner and a spa on your doorstep, and the city centre’s sights — the Christuskirche, the Independence Memorial Museum and the Alte Feste — are a short drive away.

It suits business travellers too, with four meeting rooms for 16 to 120 people, fast Wi-Fi and modern audio-visual equipment. The front desk is staffed around the clock and can book tours, restaurants, taxis and transfers.
