Cornerstone sits on the corner of Hendrik Witbooi Street and Rhode Allee, in a quiet part of central Swakopmund. The beach and seafront are close by, and the restaurants, shops and old German colonial buildings of the town centre are all within walking distance, so once the car is parked you can leave it there.

It is a small, owner-run B&B: just seven Mediterranean-style rooms set around a peaceful garden, each opening onto its own private patio with outdoor furniture. You get the modern amenities you would expect of a hotel, with the personal service of a family who live on site and know the town well.

Mornings start with a hearty homemade breakfast, served at individual tables in a light, airy breakfast room or out on the patio. The hosts can help book tours and activities, which in Swakopmund is a real advantage — the list of things to do here is long.
