Welcome to Shark Island
Shark Island Resort is situated on the Shark Peninsula, which can be reached
via a causeway from the coastal town of Luderitz.
It has excellent views over the bay, town and harbour and is an ideal destination to explore Luderitz, especially for those travellers who prefer to self-cater or camp. The German merchant Adolf Lüderitz founded Lüderitz, originally known as Angra Pequena, in 1883 as a trading base.
The town's significance increased tremendously with the discovery of diamonds in the area in 1908, which lead to a big diamond rush. The only landmark bearing testimony to an era of wealth and lavish colonial lifestyles is the ghost town of Kolmanskop, 10km inland from Lüderitz, which is slowly being buried by sand.
We offer accommodation in either a lighthouse or in 3 bungalows. The lighthouse has 2 rooms with 2 beds in each room and 2 bathrooms. It has a fully-equipped kitchen with cutlery / plates, kettle, a fridge and the sitting room has a television.
The 3 standard bungalows have the same self-catering facilities in all the fully-equipped kitchens and each unit has it's own bathroom with toilet / shower. Camping is also available around the island peninsula.
