Gondwana Kalahari Park · just three sites

Kalahari Anib Campsite

Mariental Area, Kalahari, Namibia

Three private campsites, well spaced under acacia trees on the red sand, 30 km northeast of Mariental. Each has its own bathroom, power and a braai — and Kalahari Anib Lodge's pools, bar, restaurant and nature drives are a short walk away.

The stay

A quiet camp in the red sand

With only three sites, Kalahari Anib Campsite is about as far from a crowded Namibian campground as you can get. Each pitch sits on its own among the acacias of the Gondwana Kalahari Park, with open views over the dunes and plenty of distance between you and your neighbours.

Every site has a private bathroom, a power point, some light for the evenings, a washing-up area, shade and a braai. Each takes up to six people with one camper van or two 4×4s with rooftop tents, so it suits a family or a small group travelling together.

Kalahari Anib Lodge is just next door, which makes this one of the more comfortable places in the south to camp. Book a table at the restaurant when you do not feel like cooking, swim in either of the two pools, have a drink at the bar, and join the lodge's drives and walks.

The Campsite

A shaded pitch under acacia trees with room for up to six campers and one camper van or two 4×4s with rooftop tents.

There is a power point and some light at each site, so you can charge cameras and phones and see what you are cooking after dark.

The three sites are well apart from each other, so evenings by the fire stay quiet and private.

Private Ablution & Braai

Every site has its own private bathroom — no queueing at a shared block — plus a washing-up area for pots and plates.

The braai is ready for the evening fire. Firewood, ice and braai packs can be bought at reception (order braai packs before 10:00).

On the nights you would rather not cook, the restaurant at Kalahari Anib Lodge is close by.

What to do

Why stay at Kalahari Anib Campsite?

Three sites means space and peace, and a private bathroom at each takes away the one real hardship of camping. Add a lodge with two pools, a bar and a restaurant next door, and you get the freedom of the campsite with as much comfort as you want on any given evening.

It also fits neatly into a southern self-drive. Kalahari Anib sits between Windhoek and the Fish River Canyon, and within reach of Sossusvlei, so it is an easy overnight stop — though the dunes, the drives and the San-guided walk are good reasons to stay two nights.
