Fall inlove with PEI...
Welcome to our intown apartment at First Governor’s House, an 1820s Regency style home. We are pleased to offer vacation visitors to Prince Edward Island this unique alternative in quality vacation rentals.

The fully furnished second floor of our historic home provides our guests with the privacy, convenience and spaciousness of your own intown cottage retreat. Make our home YOUR official “home away from home.”

We are only the sixth family to occupy this historic PEI residence. It was originally considered a “country cottage” because of its large treed lot, drinking well on site and extensive vegetable garden.

Charlottetown hotels

The Governor of the Colony of Prince Edward Island, Mr. John Edward Carmichael, and his family were its first occupants. Dr. John Mackieson, a Charlottetown physician who cared for the poor from his ground floor surgery, bought the house from Carmichael, and practised medicine here for over 50 years. Carmichael-Mackieson House is described in PEI historical texts as a “treasure of a house, not so much by its size, as its attention to detail.”

Because of its historical importance on PEI and its unique architecture, this Charlottetown home is one of the landmarks on the Historic Walking Tour of Olde Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island. Enjoy our “Birthplace of Confederation”. Come play on our island!
