The Zanzibar Stone Town Inn is a traditional house, a 3-floored building which was at one time a tea house, hence it’s original name: Beyt Al Chai (or House of Tea). The exceptional location of this boutique hotel offers the whole Stone Town on a silver platter to its guests.

A wealthy Arab merchant originally built this fabulous old building. In the years that followed, the square in front of Beyt al Chai became frequented by the European residents of the town.

Perfectly located on the famous Kelele Square, the Beyt Al Chai, (or The Zanzibar Stone Town Inn), allows you to enjoy the ambiance of the famous Zanzibar Stone Town with a unique respite for peace and tranquillity by overlooking a beautiful grassy square filled with hibiscus and tamarind trees to the Indian Ocean beyond.

Situated only a few paces from the sea, the House of Tea is cool and breezy and the top floor bedrooms’ have wonderful views of the Ocean.

Being an authentic old Zanzibari house, each of the 6 fully en-suite bedrooms and suites is unique and with it’s own character. Richly coloured organza and silk curtains billow in the breeze around genuine antique furniture dating back to the days of the Sultan.

No detail has been over looked. Every room is fully air-conditioned, but if you want to open the window and enjoy the late night call of the Muezzin there is also a ceiling fan. The rooms at Beyt Al Chai combine tradition, comfort and luxury, to offer each guest a unique experience. The 6 bedrooms and suites are divided in three categories:

Sultan Rooms:
These are the two largest rooms at the Beyt al Chai, approximately 40 sq. metres each. They have private bathrooms and captivating and relaxing sea views, especially whilst having a drink at sunset. The two rooms are:

Prince Rooms:
These are the second largest rooms averaging about 25 Sq Metres. They have private bathroom and separate dressing room
» Beyt El Sahel
» Beyt Al Hukum
» Beyt Al Ras

Princess Room:

Beyt Al Chai Restaurant
Opened in May 2007 and has become the finest dining establishment within Zanzibar's Stone Town.

The Restaurant offers a fusion of Zanzibar and European Cuisine. Ideally located on the ground floor section of the Hotel, un-intrusive to Guests of the House but providing them an opportunity for first class dining!

Benefiting from the shade of those ancient trees and the serenity of the Indian Ocean, Beyt al Chai Restaurant is the perfect place to relax and enjoy fabulous cuisine.

The Restaurant is open for breakfast (fresh and prepared on order) for in-house guests from 0700 hrs to 1000 hrs.

The Restaurant is open for lunch between 1200 hrs & 1530 hrs. During the day the menu offers a selection of Light lunches that include Fresh Seafood Salads and a selection of Homemade Bruschetta and Baquettes with a choice of fillings.

Dinner is served between 1800 hrs & 2200 hrs. At night the menu transforms into a Fine Dining candlelight experience of culinary creations especially prepared by our Executive Chef. Begin your evening with Fresh Crab Meat layered with Crispy Eggplant and Green Mango then select the “Fritto Misto” which is a Mix of Deep Fried Fish and Seafood and complete your evening with our famous Passion Fruit Parfait served with caramelized Banana and Coconut Cookies. A wide selection of Fine Wines complements as well as completes the experience.
