Example Itinerary

Day 1

Collect your vehicle from chosen location (all airports and major cities) load up your bags and drive to entrance gate of the Timbavati game reserve.

On arrival at the gate you will be asked which lodge you are visiting and you will need to pay R150 entrance fee, they will issue an entrance pass which you must keep and get stamped at the lodge before departure (no exit from the reserve without this).

You are now in the fantastic Timbavati reserve ! Directions to your lodge will be on the vouchers that are emailed to you prior to departure.

Take a leisurely drive to you lodge following the signs and keeping an eye out for any game, you must stay on the road.

On arrival at the lodge a welcome drink will be awaiting you and your bags will be taken to your chalet while you are given a tour of the lodge and the plan for the rest of the day explained to you, then you will be shown to your chalet and if you are in time then it will be time to go out on your first game drive… and this is what makes the Safaris in the private Kruger reserves so special.. you will have a ranger and tracker both experienced in the area driving and spotting for you as you enjoy the views from an open game viewing vehicle, and they are allowed to drive off road (and they will !!) and their job is to get you great views of all the animals and birds while explaining about them and answering any questions you may have.
After your exciting first drive there is time back at the lodge to have a wash and change before wandering to the boma for a starlit dinner around the fire. At the end of the meal you will be escorted back to your room where you can drift to sleep to the African sounds.

Days 2 & 3

It is an early morning wake up call as your ranger will awake you half an hour before dawn, time for a drink and then onto the game viewing vehicle to catch the animals as dawn breaks, a good time to see the night prowlers who have been hunting all night then enjoy the bush awakening around you as you explore and discover more about the amazing wildlife around you.

As it gets hot you will head back to the lodge for breakfast then you have some free time to enjoy the lodge facilities and its surroundings, you can also choose to take a bush walk with your ranger, but you will be meeting late afternoon for tea then onto the evening game drive for more great game viewing. Evening meal, drinks under the stars then to bed to prepare for the next day.

Day 4

You can enjoy the morning game drive and breakfast then it is time to move on and put all your newly acquired spotting skills and information on wildlife into practice as you head out of the Timbavati reserve (remember to get the lodge to stamp your entrance pass) and into the Kruger national park at the entrance you will need to register and pay the entrance fee (also buy a map of the park), then you are game driving on your own, your accommodation will be reserved for you but game drives, meals and timetable is all up to your choosing. Remember in the park you must stay on the roads and in you vehicle except in the camps and at designated locations.

On arrival at the restcamp go to reception with the paperwork we will have sent you and they will show you where your accommodation.

Days 5 & 6

Enjoy game driving around the park on your own timetable, remember to check the sightings board each day and put in the pins where you saw each of the animals.

During the day you can call into any of the other camps for drinks, food and toilet stops. Each night allow plenty time to be back at your camp by dusk.
