The lodge is North facing and is usually sunny and warm – even in winter. Porcupine Pie Boutique Lodge is 10 minutes from the beach, 30 minutes from George airport and 45 minutes from Knysna and Oudshoorn. It is close to all the championship golf courses and activities the Garden Route has to offer.

Porcupine Pie Boutique Lodge Accommodation

Porcupine Pie Boutique Lodge offers three luxury Chalets carefully positioned to ensure the privacy of our guests and providing the ideal honeymoon destination. All beds are king size, extra length, and linen is the finest Percale cotton.

Our cosy wooden chalets have ceiling fans for balmy nights and heaters as well as electric blankets for chilly winter nights - perfect for cuddling up with your loved one.
All have stocked bar fridges and satellite TV. Enjoy our 'Bath with a View'... The en-suite bathrooms have showers and baths – all with large picture windows offering spectacular views of the river and Outeniqua Mountains.

Dinning
Enjoy an intimate dinner served on our deck or in the lapa and rekindle the romance of a candlelit dinner as you enjoy the scenic splendour of a Wilderness sunset.

Full breakfasts are served either in the dining room or on the deck (weather permitting). In the evening we offer a 2 course gourmet menu (main & dessert).The lodge is fully licensed and offers a small but good selection of wines, beers and spirits.

Activities in the estate:

Nature walks
On the estate there are spectacular walking trails through numerous vegetation types – Cape Fynbos, forest, riverine gorges and open grasslands ensuring that the bird life is both varied and prolific.

Horse riding
Experience the freedom of exploring Wilderness by horseback with horse riding into the foothills of the Outeniqua Mountains.

Mountain biking
For the somewhat less adventurous enjoy the many Mountain biking and hiking trails that are suitable for all fitness levels - Wilderness provides the perfect escape where one can rejuvenate the spirit and enjoy the natural splendour of the Garden Route.

Swimming
And after an energetic morning, there is no better way of relaxing than a picnic at the river and a quick dip in the refreshing rock pools.

In the area:
-Whale watching (August – Oct), paragliding and surfing are all available along the Wilderness coastline, whilst the surrounding Garden Route offers numerous championship golf courses, visit our Golf page for more details on the golf courses such as Fancourt, Pezula, Pinnacle Point and others in the area.

Day trip
There are wonderful day outing opportunities from the estate
Shark diving (Mossel Bay), bungi-jumping (Blaaukranz River – World’s highest bungi-jump), caving (Cango Caves) and ostrich riding (Oudtshoorn).
Or take the Outeniqua Choo-Tjoe, a lovely steam train, for a scenic trip from George to Mossel Bay and visit the Diaz museum then enjoy a lunch overlooking the bay before your return to enjoy sundowners at the Lodge.

Revitalizing treatment
We do not have a resident masseuse, but rather employ the services of a fully qualified kinesiologist who is resident in Wilderness Heights – unfortunately we cannot offer kinesiology here as the equipment cannot travel, but we do offer Aromatherapy Massages or Electro-Magnetic Therapy – so you can enjoy a soothing massage on the private deck of your chalet whilst overlooking the unspoilt Wilderness National Park.

And then while you are in the mood to be pampered round it off with a facial, a manicure and a pedicure. Perfect for the ladies while their other half enjoys a round of golf at the nearby golf courses of Fancourt, the Links and George Country Club.

Golf
Porcupine Pie Boutique Lodge is centrally situated along South Africa's Garden Route and was recently voted as a top golf destination in Middle East & Africa. There are a wonderful selection of golf courses including Pinnacle Point, Oubaai, Fancourt (The Links, Montague, Outeniqua and Bramble Hill courses), George Country Club, Pezula, Simola and Goose Valley.

We have an exclusive arrangement with the Garden Route Golf Academy whereby they will arrange & host games at most Garden Route Golf Courses.
Johann Lourens is a qualified PGA Pro and in addition to being in a position to assist in all aspects of the game, can accompany our guests on their rounds of golf.

As we do not offer twin beds, we are not suited to all-male golf tour groups, but rather to golfing couples. And if only one partner wishes to play, we will host the other partner and make sure that they enjoy all that Porcupine Pie Guest Lodge and the Garden Route have to offer.

Porcupine Pie Boutique Lodge is situated in Wilderness Heights – bordering the beautiful Touw River and Wilderness National Park. A perfect location for hiking, riding, bird watching or simply relaxing away from the hustle and bustle of city life.

DIRECTIONS
From N2 turn into Wilderness Village, follow road past Protea Hotel to Stop at T-junction. Turn left into Heights Road and follow road up into Wilderness Heights for 3.8 km until you reach Stop sign at “Old George / Knysna Main Road”
OR
As you drive out of George along Courtenay turn left to Saasveld – continue past Saasveld along Old George / Knysna Main Road until you reach turn-off to Wilderness.
THEN
From that intersection, proceed along gravel road for 1.6 km in direction of Knysna (Hoekwil) until you reach sign on the right hand side for Ten Mile Lane (Tien Myl Laan). Turn into Ten Mile Lane and proceed for 3.4 km (the last 2.4 km on concrete strip road) until you reach Porcupine Pie Guest Lodge
