Accommodation consists of luxury riverside rooms, rondavels and garden facing rooms. Step out of your riverside room where you can enjoy freshwater fishing on your doorstep.
Other recreational activities include the fun of boating, padelo’s, canoeing, mountain biking and endless uncrowded beaches.
Nearby there are World class golf courses, also squash, bowls and paragliding. Opportunities also exist for seasonal land based whale watching.

Here the vegetation can be seen in its natural environment where trees are marked for easy identification. There is also an 800 year old Yellowwood Big Tree nearby.
We also have an Indigenous Tree Trail on the Hotel property.
A birders paradise with 280 species where the Knysna Loerie is a daily visitor. Our only permanent residents are Oliver and Olivia, who are Cape Spotted Eagle Owls.

The Hotel is ideally situated to explore the whole area. Go deep-sea fishing, head for the hills or explore one of the most unique Freshwater Lake Systems in South Africa.
A launch trip to the Knysna Heads will add to the day’s excitement, not forgetting to sample the famous Knysna Oysters.
There is also the Brewery which offers tours and tastings.
Then take on the world famous Cango Caves and the Ostrich and Crocodile Farms of Oudtshoorn, only an hour’s drive over the historic Outeniqua Pass which is one of the 4 passes route over the Outeniqua mountain. There is also wine tasting on the Estates of the Karoo town of Calitzdorp.
Definitely something for everyone.

Fairy Knowe Hotel Location:
The Fairy Knowe Hotel is situated on the banks of the Touw River in the Wilderness National Park Lake District and is ideally situated to explore the whole area. Wilderness is 15km east of George and is home to the Wilderness National Park, a rare aquatic eco system that includes rivers, lakes, estuaries and 18km of coastline.

Wilderness is renowned for its vast stretches of beach, its peace and tranquility and the absence of windswept headlands and wild, stormy seas.

The long stretch of beach embraces the mouths of the Touw and Kaaimans Rivers, and is backed by northward cliffs over which the fringe of the forest reaches down to sea level.
Wilderness not only overlooks the sea, but also the placid lagoon (Touw River Estuary), the Serpentine, which meanders between the Touw River, Island Lake and Rondevlei.

This is a favourite venue for waterskiing and attracts enthusiasts from far and wide. Recreation includes hiking, mountain-biking, bird- and whale-watching, hang- and paragliding, horseriding, scenic drives, day tours, angling, boating and other water sports.
Excellent viewpoints are a Map of Africa with breathtaking scenery of forests, lakes, mountains and coastline and Dolphin's Point, an excellent vantage point from which to study whales and dolphins.

Kaaimans River Bridge is a much favoured spot for photography and particularly for taking snaps of the Outeniqua Choo-Tjoe that travels along the coastline between George and Knysna.
