Attractions / Activities Nearby

We have easy access to the many attractions of Mpumalanga and we can arrange tours to The Kruger National Park, Horse Riding, Golf Safaris, Hot Air Balloon flights, River Rafting, Rock-Climbing, Chopper Flips, Abseiling, Quad biking, Sundowner Cruises, etc.

The lowveld is full of national and internationally renowned spots so Legogote Lodge is a perfect place to settle whilst you visit each of them. Details of all these historic and natural sites together with details regarding tours, access etc, are available from the staff at the Lodge.

These wonders include - Bourke's Luck Potholes - where the Blyde River ("River of Joy") and the Treur River ("River of Sorrow") meet and water erosion formed one of South Africa's top tourist attractions. Over thousands of years, surreal cylindrical rock sculptures created by whirling water have formed a series of dark pools which contrast artfully with the streaked white and yellow lichen covered rocks.
The town of Pilgrim's Rest, which lies 60kms, was declared a National Monument in 1986 as a living memory of the early gold rush days in South Africa during the late 1800s / early 1900s and has maintained its historic appearance.

A twenty minute drive east is Numbi Gate, one of the loveliest entrances into the Kruger Park - its higher altitude gives you a sweeping vista over the lowveld to the east and the granite foothills to the north and south.
Kruger National Park covers 20,000 square km and stretches from the Crocodile River in the south up to the Limpopo River, which is the international border in the north.

Flanking the National Park is the Sabi Sands Game Reserve which is the birthplace of sustainable wildlife tourism in Southern Africa and is the oldest of all the private reserves in South Africa. It has only ever been a wilderness area and visitors can see a vast range of animals (including The Big Five) and a number of endangered species.
A daily conservation fee/entrance fee can be purchased via the hotel and a picnic can be provided so guests can visit either of these places.

Mpumalanga province is the home of Hazyview which derives its name from the summer haze that envelope the low bush land. This area is reputed to have the best climate in the world for banana growing. One of the most popular activities here is to go hot air ballooning over the shimmering valley.
The views are truly spectacular and unforgettable! There are also many superb hiking trails and opportunities to view various types of game.

Midway between the Blyde River Canyon and the Kruger National Park, the residents of the traditional villages of Shangana invite guests to share in the way of life of the Shangaan people.
This village has been created and built by local Shangaan people, and forms a place of great pride and a way of preserving a rich heritage for South Africa and an example of it’s great cultural diversity.
