The 5 en-suite bedrooms have been decorated with lavish attention to detail and give you the impression of being in an opulent home. Each suite has its own theme which has been achieved through a mix of eclectic-modern flair and classic-revival.

Fish Hoek Accommodation

Guests who are interested in including a visit to Cape Town in their holiday experience, qualify for special rates at our sister-property, Fish Hoek Manor.

This exclusive property mirrors Bakenhof's hospitality and luxurious style and is situated in the quaint sea-side town of Fish Hoek on the Southern Cape Peninsula.

Garden suite
Fresh and airy, inspired by botanicals and flora, this spacious suite is favoured by brides and her bridesmaids in preparation for the big event, or for families in need of a deluxe suite.

Able to sleep 2-4 guests, it is furnished with a king-sized canopy bed, comfortable dressing area, kitchenette and a seating area, which can be converted into two single beds.

The en-suite bathroom features a WC, corner bath, open shower and single basin. The garden suite also has its own driveway, parking bay and private patio that opens onto sprawling lawns.

The blue suite
An eclectic mix of French inspired opulence and modern chic makes this suite unique.

Imposing and comfortable at the same time, it has twin beds and a spacious, modern en-suite bathroom with a double freestanding basin and spacious shower (no bath). The suite opens up onto a private patio which leads onto a flourishing rose garden.

The African suite
The decor of this modern African suite is reminiscent of the romantic colonial era. A king-sized canopy bed and intimate lounge ensures a good nights' rest and a private space for putting your feet up.

The honeymoon suite
Irresistibly romantic and supremely private, access to this suite is down a meandering, peach-husk covered driveway.

Entry is via the private patio which opens onto a spacious suite featuring a dreamy canopy bed, a plush lounge and en-suite bathroom with double basins, heated towel rails, corner bath and spacious shower.
Full length mirrors offer the bride a top-to-toe view and "dressing room" lights around the mirror add a theatrical flair. This suite is furnished with a kitchenette, complete with microwave, bar fridge and tea & coffee facilities.

The comfortable lounge overlooks a rose garden and completes this private honeymoon haven. The private patio along with a French-Provence style outdoor table and chairs create the perfect spot to enjoy your morning coffee or sundowner later in the evening.

The rose suite
Perfect for a family of four, this two-bedroom suite is decorated in a contemporary, elegant style.

Two separate rooms, with private en-suite facilities, are complimented by a lounge and patio which opens onto the rose garden, giving direct access to the pool. One room features a kitchenette, king-sized bed and en-suite bathroom.

The second room doubles up as a lounge and offers two single sleeper couches. Clean lines and earthy tones create a soothing, welcoming mood and a TV, microwave, bar fridge and tea & coffee facilities provide the guests with self-sufficient facilities.

The aroma of a full English Breakfast will be your wake-up call and our Chef's Daily Specials will impress even the most indulgent person. Our informal African-themed lounge provides self-service hot and cold drinks throughout the day and an indoor space for relaxation and recreation.

The Conference Room measures 98 sq (14 m x 7 m)

Tables can be configured to suit your needs. Our conference facility is equipped with an overhead projector, white screen, flip-chart, a music system, TV and has wireless/internet connectivity. Additional business facilities can also be made available on request, prior to the conference.

Our Standard Conference Package for up to 40 guests includes 3 tea breaks and lunch, served either next to a cozy fireplace in the dining room or under the vine-covered terrace in the garden.
Optional extras include barbeques, sunset tractor rides and dinners.

Bakenhof Guesthouse is situated on the 155 hectare "Bakenhof" farm, a typical Boland farm at the gateway to the Paarl wine route, 5km from Wellington and 7km from the historic town of Paarl.

The property offers easy access to historic attractions, quaint villages, antique shops and local art galleries with, of course, the ever present appeal of the countryside and natural surroundings.

Enjoy the Farm
- Rest and relaxation at the poolside is encouraged!
- Amble through vineyards or explore the surrounding countryside on mountain bikes.
- Vineyard walks.
- During cooler months, snow-capped mountain views and fresh country air will invigorate you. In the evening, seek warmth from one of the many inviting indoor fireplaces. We use our own dry vines as fuel and, if necessary, rooms are heated with under floor heating.
- Vineyard tractor drives. Unwind with a sundowner and an indulgent picnic while we share our farming practices and passion for wine and grapes.

The town is tucked away between the Paarl Mountain and the towering Du Toitskloof Mountain range. The sun's reflection on the magnificent 50 million year old granite boulders of the Paarl mountain, resembles enormous ,shining pearls, which is what prompted Abraham Gabbema to name it Peerlbergh, giving rise to its modern-day name of Paarl.

Standing amongst these magnificent boulders you will find the imposing Afrikaans Language Monument. Erected 1975, it is the only language monument in the world.

- Visit the Strooidak Church. Built in 1805, it is the oldest church building in S. A. and is still in use.

- The Bird Sanctuary along the banks of the Berg River features 136 species of birds. Species include the beautiful Malachite Kingfisher, Maccoa Duck, African Marsh Harrier & African Fish Eagle.

Activities in Wellington (5km's from Bakenhof):

Wellington was a small farming community, until the opening of the pass through the Bain's Kloof Mountains in 1853. The railway followed ten years later, and Wellington swelled, becoming a stop-over point for transport in the area. Despite its historical growth, the Wellington of today has retained its small town charm and warm hospitality.

Guided horse trails:
in the foothills of the majestic Hawequa Mountains allow you to submerge yourself in the glory of nature, surrounded by indigenous fynbos, olive orchards and vineyards, whilst stopping to taste some of the local produce en-route.


Mountain bike trail:
It runs through the foothills of the Hawequa Mountains and offers spectacular views over the Berg River Valley. The full trail is 30km long and is suitable for both novice and experienced riders. Permits are required - contact the Wellington Tourism Bureau.


Hiking trails and picnic sites:

in the mountains where some of the most rare and exquisite species of wildflowers can be seen at certain times of the year.


Die Vonds Snake Park
A centre for the breeding and conservation of snakes with 40 different types of snakes as well as tortoises, lizards, legavaan (river monitor) and other reptiles and animals. It is situated on the R45 between Paarl and Wellington, 3km from the R45/R44 four way stop.

 

The Wellington Wine and Brandy Route

The Wellington wine and brandy route is small and compact and the cellars within easy driving distance of each other. Only 45 minutes from Cape Town, the area is known as the heart of the Boland.

Members of this route are all open to the public, some only by appointment, and will welcome wine lovers to come and taste their products in a friendly and informal atmosphere.
