The Tulbagh is centrally-located and conveniently placed to explore the town with its historic Church Street and many other attractions and amenities.

The main hotel building dates from 1859 and offers a range of contemporary-styled luxurious rooms.

The Winterhoek Manor (1813) and the Toll House (1809), opposite the hotel, are two of the heritage properties in Church Street, offering charming period rooms. Individual décor and fine cotton linen adorning four poster beds. Chandeliers on yellowwood beamed ceilings.

Our Honeymoon Suite is the jewel in our crown. Crafted from the old wagon shed, this suite oozes romantic charm. Open thatch, two fireplaces, bath and shower for two.

There are three pool areas, free Wi-Fi throughout and an in-house beauty therapist. All areas have air conditioning and there are cosy wood-burning fires for winter evenings.

Tulbagh is just over an hours’ drive from Cape Town, nestled at the foot of the Witzenburg, Winterhoek and Obiqua Mountains in the heart of the Cape Winelands.

Honeymoon Suite
The exclusive Honeymoon Suite situated in the Winterhoek Manor, opposite the main hotel building, is an idyllic romantic retreat. Old world charm under a thatched roof combined with modern comforts and many unique features.

The spacious air conditioned suite has a four-poster bed, lounge area with chaise longue, fireplace, cable TV and bluetooth NFC sound bar. There is a separate dressing area, walk-in shower and second fireplace opposite the contemporary bath for two.

Saronsberg Suite
The contemporary suite, situated in the main hotel building, enjoys a private deck with panoramic views of the Saronsberg Mountain.

The spacious air conditioned, extra length king size or twin bedded suite, features comfortable arm chairs, romantic fireplace, cable TV and bluetooth NFC sound bar. There is an intimate bath for two, large bespoke shower and twin wash basins.

Heritage Protea
Sugarbush Protea located in our heritage Winterhoek Manor(1813), opposite the main hotel building. Stroll out into the indigenous garden with pool, leading onto historic Church Street.

This charming period room features an extra length king size or twin bed adorned with fine cotton linen, comfortable arm chairs, chandeliers and traditional yellowwood floor and beamed ceiling; roll top bath and open wet room shower. Contemporary features include air conditioning, cable TV and WiFi.

Hotel Protea
The three contemporary Protea Rooms are located in the main hotel building.

The luxurious air conditioned rooms, feature extra length king size or twin beds, fine cotton linen, and two additionally have sofa beds, ideal for parents with young children.

All Protea rooms have baths and showers for two and include air conditioning, cable TV and WiFi.

These two period rooms are located in our heritage Winterhoek Manor(1813), opposite the main hotel building. Stroll out into the indigenous garden with pool, leading onto historic Church Street.

The charming period rooms feature either four poster or extra length king size twin beds adorned with fine cotton linen, chandeliers, traditional yellowwood floors and beamed ceiling.

Both air conditioned rooms have showers, one ingeniously designed into the original fireplace, cable TV and WiFi.

Hotel Fynbos
The four contemporary rooms are found in the main hotel building and offer panoramic views of the mountains that encompass Tulbagh.

These air conditioned rooms offer comfort and style with extra length queen or twin beds, and fine cotton linen.

All Fynbos rooms have spacious bespoke showers, cable TV and WiFi.

December 2010 saw the opening of our swimming pool, which is a welcome addition to help keep our guests 'cool' in the South African sun.

Weddings in Tulbagh are increasingly popular, and The Toll House provides flexible accommodation in Tulbagh for families and groups of friends.
If you have a wedding in Tulbagh the guests can be accommodated in both the Toll House self catering cottage and the Tulbagh Hotel itself on a bed and breakfast basis.
Although a self catering cottage, it is owned by the Tulbagh Hotel, and a bed and breakfast rate can be arranged at any time.

Along with accommodation in Tulbagh, the Tulbagh Hotel offers a Lounge Bar with comfortable sofas and armchairs, photos of local characters, and a huge open fireplace for those cold winter nights.

Tour our beautiful valley in peace and tranquility by hiring a mountain bike from the Four Star Tulbagh Hotel, conveniently located in the middle of van der Stel Street, the main street, next to the Standard Bank.

We will provide you with a map, detailing suggested routes of varying length and difficulty.
After a rewarding time on the road, join us back at the Tulbagh Hotel for a complimentary glass of wine on the patio under the shade of the White Karee tree.
We offer al fresco dining in the secluded courtyard, with an a la carte menu featuring great South African country fayre.

Directions:
From Cape Town via Wellington
- 1.Take the N1, northbound, from Cape Town towards Paarl.
2.Exit N1 at the (R44) Wellington "Agter Paarl/Klapmuts" off ramp. Turn left at first junction towards Wellington.
3.Continue on R44 towards Wellington. Straight ahead at 4 way stop,
4. After about 5km's turn left at a set of traffic lights into Distillery Road - this is a continuation of the R44.
5. Continue on R44 towards Hermon, Ceres and Porterville.
6. 5 km after passing through Nuwe Kloof Pass turn left sign posted Tulbagh.
7. Continue until reaching a 4-way stop. Turn left into the main road - Van der Stel Street.
8. The Tulbagh Hotel is half way down on the righthand side, next to Standard Bank.(N.B. Please note that the roads are all tarred from Cape Town)

From Cape Town via Malmesbury
–1.Take the N7, northbound, from Cape Town towards Malmesbury.
2. Exit N7 at the Malmesbury off ramp to your left. Turn left at first junction, heading into the town.
3. Pass the large silos on your right, at traffic lights continue straight ahead. At the next stop junction, turn right.
4.This leads out of Malmesbury and you will pass the Swartland Cellars on your right. Turn left at the R46 towards Hermon/Riebeeck Kasteel.
5. Continue, passing Riebeeck-Kasteel. At the junction with the R44 at Hermon, turn left.
6. 5 km after passing through the Nuwe Kloof Pass turn left sign posted Tulbagh.
7. Continue until reaching a 4-way stop. Turn left into the main road - Van der Stel Street.
8. The Tulbagh Hotel is half way down on the righthand side, next to Standard Bank.
