Situated in the picturesque Garden Route, Eight Bells Mountain Inn nestles in the Ruiterbos Valley region at the foot of the Robinson Pass on the R328 between Mossel Bay and Oudtshoorn.
Established more than 80 years ago, this charming Inn is renowned for its friendly hospitality, superb service and range of recreational facilities amidst magnificent mountain scenery.


The Inn's proximity to the green coastal belt of the Garden Route as well as the timeless Little Karoo, allows for easy exploration of the many natural wonders, scenic mountain passes and diverse recreations offered by these regions.
Here you can feel at home in a choice of tastefully decorated en-suite bedrooms, family units, air-conditioned log cabins and thatched rondavels set in enchanting gardens and shared by an abundance of bird life.

Feel at home in a choice of tastefully decorated en suite bedrooms, family units, air-conditioned log cabins and thatched rondavels set in enchanting gardens, shared by an abundance of bird life.
All rooms and log cabins are equipped with under-floor heating, a digital safe, direct dial telephone, hairdryer and television set with a bouquet of channels being SABC 2 and 3, E-TV, M-Net, Super Sport 1, Super Sport 2, Movie Magic, Sky News and Disney Channel.


The Palm Court rooms have digitally remote controlled ceiling fans, the Pool Terrace and Rose Court rooms have table fans and the Swiss Village log cabins are air-conditioned.
Each room type has its own charm and together offer a wide choice to suit every visitors needs. A same-day guest laundry service is also provided 365 days a year – weather permitting.

Wining and Dining
Breakfast, included in the tariff, consists of a buffet of fresh fruits, cereals, ham, cheese, fruit juices, home-baked muffins and croissants as well as a cooked English breakfast with a selection of savoury mince, sauteed mushrooms, smoked bacon, sausage, roasted tomato, chicken livers and toast with honey, jam and homemade marmalade.

Dinner in the air-conditioned Oak Room Restaurant offers guests an a la carte menu with a good choice of dishes including local favourites – ostrich fillet, trout, Cape Malay chicken curry and seafood – the menu also includes a vegetarian and kiddies section. Our wine list has an excellent selection of Cape wines, ports and brandies.

How To Get To Eight Bells Mountain Inn

From Cape Town on the N2 (coastal road)
Proceed along the N2 in the direction of George until you reach the road exit number 393, signposted Hartenbos R102 / Oudtshoorn R328.
Take this exit road, turn left at the yield sign and left again at the traffic lights opposite the industrial area, onto the R102.
Proceed along the R102 past the little town of Hartenbos (+-3kms) and over the bridge (above the N2), the road then becomes the R328 to Oudtshoorn.
From this point, Eight Bells is situated approximately 28 kms inland on the R328 which passes the hotel’s front entrance, 1km from the foot of the Robinson Pass.

* Please note that there are no signs on the R328 directing you to the Robinson Pass, but only to Oudtshoorn.
