Zoutspruit Guesthouse Accommodation

ZOUTSPRUIT Guest Chalets:
Every guest room has an en-suite bathroom and attention is paid to small details such as current magazines and the complimentary tea and coffee facility with fresh rusks and biscuits.

South africa hotels

The guest chalets are spacious and comfortable, each with a TV set and a radio as well as all the other luxuries and comforts that can be expected for overnight accommodation. Comfort and luxury in a serene and secure environment are the lasting impressions visitors have of ZOUTSPRUIT.

Braai Area behind the Guest Chalets:
For the exhausted eco-tourist, there is a private and sheltered braai and entertainment area behind the guest chalets. Within a few metres of this area lies yet another small game camp with only a standard game separating visitors from this area. Thus visitors may relax on the provided garden furniture and view the antelope and bird species at close range.

Zoutspruit Bed and Breakfast Facilities

ZOUTSPRUIT has an enclosed swimming pool as well as a braai and entertainment area directly behind the guest rooms. The braai and entertainment area has a gas braai as well as a charcoal/wood braai area and is situated next to a private game camp. Visitors are frequently rewarded with the sight of antelope, only meters away.

Zoutspruit proudly also offers:
- A mountain bike trail
- Caravan Stands, with bathroom facilities, electricity and braai area
- Hunting facilities & Wing Shooting during the hunting season (1 May - 31 Aug)
ZOUTSPRUIT Peace & Tranquility:
The peaceful and tranquil atmosphere of the ZOUTSPRUIT farm with abundant birdsong has a relaxing and calming effect on the weary traveller. City and town dwellers will benefit from the total lack of pollution with absolutely clear skies, the abundance of oxygen in the air and the feeling of absolute peace and tranquility.

ZOUTSPRUIT Meals:
The standard fare is breakfast included, which is an English breakfast. Other meals can be arranged on request and for visitors that will be away for the day lunch boxes may be packed. Special dietary requirements can be catered for.
Whether you stay for a day, a weekend or longer, a farm holiday really has it all.

Farm Holiday Activities:
Farm holiday activities range from: Simply walking around the farm; Hiking in the game camp; Visiting the dairy with milking time; Viewing the spectacular Free State sunsets (or sunrises) or watching the countless stars that appear in the heavens above a totally unpolluted sky. A farm holiday has far, far more things to do than people realise.

A Truly Stress-Free Holiday:
Image a holiday with no stress: Where your needs are taken care of; Where dads can give of themselves to their children, rather than simply providing money for their children to amuse themselves.
Where mothers also have a chance to rest with nothing to do.
Where the whole family can partake in activities together; Where people are re-united with nature and a rustic way of life of times past. This is not fantasy, it is the reality of a farm holiday

Zoutspruit Activities:
The ZOUTSPRUIT game camp offers game viewing, hiking and bird watching. For the eco-tourist there are a number of points of interest, ranging from the Ouvolk (Sungazer) colony to the big bluegum tree, reported to be the second largest in the Free State.
Walking activities range from a leisurely walk past the farm activities to a longer hike through the main game camp. The less adventurous may enjoy a refreshing swim or simply relaxing in the garden. Kroonstad, only 16km's from ZOUTSPRUIT offers several restaurants, pubs, nightspots and a wide variety of sporting facilities including fishing.

Hiking in the ZOUTSPRUIT Game Camp:
The ZOUTSPRUIT game camp may be viewed either by vehicle or by hiking through the camp. Viewing the game camp by vehicle will only introduce visitors to the most prominent species. Hiking though offers a unique eco-tourism experience. Birds, plants, insects, reptiles and small mammals can be observed at close range when hiking. All the senses experience the atmosphere of the veld and for many urban dwellers it is a unique experience to be the only human beings for as far as they can see. The ZOUTSPRUIT game camp offers a fascinating glimpse of what this area must have looked like only a two centuries ago.

The ZOUTSPRUIT Tree:
ZOUTSPRUIT has a massive Australian Bluegum tree which is reported to be the second largest Bluegum tree in the Free State. A taller tree exists at Bethlehem in the Eastern Free State. Bluegum trees are alien species to South Africa, and the department of environmental affairs has declared war on bluegum trees and are actively destroying them across the country. Sadly the character of the Free State for the last century and a half, with farmsteads surrounded by a row of tall bluegums is being lost. The Afrikaans term for "Bluegum tree" is "Bloekomboom". Therefore ZOUTSPRUIT is glad to have this magnificent tree and to be able to preserve this little bit of our heritage.

Your Hosts:
Francois and Retha Els
Francois and Retha Els are the owners and managers of the ZOUTSPRUIT farm. They are looking forward to share their little corner of South Africa with people that will not only be customers looking for accommodation for a single night, but will become their lifelong friends. Situated close to the N1 main Road, we offer a relaxing atmosphere with no noise or lights from traffic to disturb you.

Zoutspruit Safety, Security & Peace-of-Mind:
The three star grading from the SA Tourism council awarded to Zoutspruit and the excellent testimonials from past visitors offers peace of mind to prospective visitors arriving at Zoutspruit.
The assurance by Retha Els to take care of every detail and to provide homely comforts and to cater for the individual needs of visitors will make an overnight stay at Zoutspruit a memorable experience.

The Central Geographic Position of Kroonstad :
Kroonstad lies roughly in the center of the Northern Free State. In turn the Free State lies in the center of Southern Africa and it is difficult (though not impossible) to travel between any two distant points of South Africa without crossing over the Free State.
To plagiarise a popular aphorism, while it is not true that all roads lead to Kroonstad, as do many roads lead to Rome, it is certainly true that many roads lead from Kroonstad! It is also true that while Kroonstad is closer to the start of many journeys than the destination it is a far better and wiser option to overnight at Zoutspruit than at any other point on your journey.

Zoutspruit Bed and Breakfast is on the N1 highway, 16km south of Kroonstad. From the N1, the Zoutspruit turnoff is clearly signposted and the local road leads for 2km to the Zoutspruit farmhouse where the individual guest chalets are nestled amongst shaded trees in a cool and relaxing garden. Safe and secure parking is offered directly in front of the private entrance of each chalet for overnight visitors. Although comfortably close to the N1, we offer a peaceful getaway with no noise or lights from traffic on the highway.
