The bushveld's best kept secret...

Private self-catering bushveld game estate near the Kruger National Park, South Africa.

Look up to a Giraffe ..... tune into bird song ..... follow the trail of a kudu.
Peep into an aardvark's lair ..... find porcupine quills ..... or just be a lazy lizard
lying all day around your own private pool ..... deep in the African bush.

Have you noticed the Paradise Flycatcher nesting outside the bedroom window? Did you see the warthog family with their tails in top gear? That dung beetle rolling its tiny ball uphill?

Maduma Boma Klaserie

At night, under a sky full of stars, your family around the fire in the boma, re-living the adventures of the day.

The sun rises over your thatched chalet in a secluded part of the bush. An early morning game walk brings you face to face with the Giraffe, Impala, Wildebeest Kudu, Nyala and many other species of magnificent African animals.

Maduma Boma Accommodation

We offer self catering accommodation. Each chalet has its own private swimming pool boma and braai facilities and is fully serviced daily.

There are 11 chalets at Maduma Boma. Each one of them is privately situated on a game farm and are fully equipped with crockery, cutlery and linen. They all have solar powered lights and gas appliances - accept Nyala, Eland and Impala, which are electrified.

Bushbuck Camp/Chalet is the newest of the chalets, completed in September 2009.
It is situated about 300 meters from the fence bordering Maduma Boma with Kapama who have the big 5, so you can imagine the animal sounds. The bird activity is magnificent.

Bushbuck is made up of 3 separate chalets. 2 or which are bedrooms each sleeping up to 4 people, the third of which is the kitchen or communal area. Bushbuck is perfect for the large family or friends going on holiday together and sets itself up for communal activity. The aim is to eventually expand the camp to sleep upto 20 people and cater for the growing 'school in the wild' market. Each room has its own ablutions.

Bushbuck has it's own Boma in which to braai and swimming pool - with a panoramic view of the African bush.
The camp has solar panelled lighting and gas appliances.

Dik Dik is a double adjoining rondawel and like the rest of the chalets, is situated on a secluded part of the farm.
This double rondawel has an inter leading door and both rooms have doors leading to the outside. Both rooms have their own private ablutions.

The first of the rooms has an open plan kitchen, a table and chairs as well as some bar stools to sit at the table top divider to the kitchen. There are also 3 single beds in this room. The other room has a double bed and space for another single bed or perhaps even two.

Eland - This is the largest of the chalets and is situated in the middle of the farm. It is one of 3 chalets that have electricity, the other 2 being Mala and Nyala. It still has gas stove and geyser but for the rest, it is electrified. It consists of four adjoining rondawels. The middle rondawel has a large lounge, open-plan to the well appointed kichen.

There are three separate bedrooms with two bathrooms (one with a bath and the other a shower) and two separate toilets.

The lounge can be converted into sleeping quarters for an additional 3 beds if necessary. Eland can accommodate up to 10 but 8 more comfortably. Like all the other Chalets, Eland has it's own private swimming pool and Boma.

Giraffe is an "A" Framed Chalet and is situated on a secluded part of the farm. The "A" Framed cottages are all open plan and have two single beds in the main part of the Chalet and then a double bed on the upper mezzanine section that overlooks the bushveld and swimmingpool.

There is a sleeping area on top of the abloutions and is perfect for children, meaning that the "A" Frames sleep 4 comfortably and maximum of 6. There is a quaint kitchen area and then the abloutions have a toilet, wash basin and shower.

Hongoni is an "A" Framed Chalet and is situated on a secluded part of the farm.

Kudu is made up of two adjoining rondawels and is situated on a secluded part of the farm close to Kudu Dam.
It consists of a lounge/bedroom, open-plan to kitchen. 4 people can sleep in this room and then the adjoining rondawel has a double bed and 2 singles in it. This room has an en-suite bathroom. Kudu has it's own boma and swimmingpool as well.

Kudu is situated on a slightly higher part of the farm than any of the other chalets and has spectacular views over the Bushveld and Drakensberg Mountains.

Mala accommodates 6 people comfortably though there is place to add a further 2 beds. Mala is under thatch and consists of a lounge, well fitted kitchen, study nook, 2 bedrooms (main en-suite) an upstairs area with 2 single beds and then a full bathroom.

It is situated close to the Office and entrance to Maduma Boma therefore making it not as private as the other chalets but it is still fairly private and has it's own swimming pool and boma. Mala is electrified but has a gas operated stove and oven as well as 2 hot water geysers.

Nyala - is our most modern chalet & has stunning views of the Drakenberg mountains. It has two bedrooms both with en-suite bathrooms, a lovely open verandah and a separate fully fitted kitchen. Nyala has electricity, gas and dual powered stove.

The chalet has a lovely ethnic style and feel and the boma and rock swimming pool give it a great finish. It also has a large open area upstairs which can accommodate extra people if needed.

Peeva is made up of two adjoining rondawels and is situated on a secluded part of the farm, close to the upstairs hide.
The first rondawel has 2 single beds in it and is open-plan to a small kitchen. The adjoining rondawel has a double bed and one single bed. Both the rondawels have separate en-suite showers and toilets. With an extra bed, Peeva can sleep up to 6 people.

Peeva is one of the more popular chalets as it is very private and deeper in the bush.

Squirrel is an "A" Framed Chalet and is situated on a secluded part of the farm. The "A" Framed cottages are all open plan and have two single beds in the main part of the chalet and then a double bed upstairs that overlooks the bushveld and swimming pool.

There is a sleeping area on top of the ablutions that is perfect for older children, therefore Squirrel accommodates up to 6 people - 4 comfortably. There is a small open plan kitchen area and the ablutions have a toilet, wash basin and shower

Vlakvark is the largest of the chalets that we have to offer. It is situated right at the back of the farm and is a perfect getaway for a group. It comprises of a house with 2 bedrooms each sleep a maximum of 3 and then a lounge area where there is a couch sleeper for one person. There is a well fitted kitchen and a dining room area as well as a lovely verandah area overlooking the swimming pool and the front garden.

Situated next to the house is a cottage with 3 bedrooms, a small kitchen and a louge area, again this is a sleeping area.
Up until now, Vlakvark was a private residence but we are now letting it out as a chalet.

The garden in Vlakvark makes the place and the boma comfortably can sit 15 - 20 people. It is just one of those boma's that has a lovely vibe and lends itself to a magnificent evening.

Sit quietly at one of the many hides and dams situated on the farm and watch the abundant bird life busy with their daily routine.

Lunch is spent around your own private swimming pool, swimming and soaking up the sun, while a mother warthog and her kids visit you for tea.

At dusk, the Drakensberg Mountains are awash with red - sundowners defined. In the evening, you enjoy a 'bushveld braai'. You spend the evening around the fire, relaying the day's stories...

After the sun goes down, the night comes alive. The lonely call of the Hyena, the bark of the hungry Jackal and the Owl's hoot and the piercing call of the Night Jar. This is the time to sit and stare at the southern night sky, and then you realise that this has to be GOD's own country.
