A warm welcome awaits you at Riverside 2, situated on a working lemon farm in the heart of the malaria-free Sundays River Valley. Riverside 2 is approximately 45 minutes from Port Elizabeth and 25 minutes away from the famous Addo Elephant National Park. The small town of Kirkwood is considered to be the citrus capital of the Eastern Cape and is also the centre of one of the largest citrus regions in South Africa. Allow the heady fragrance of the delicate orange/lemon blossoms to dazzle your senses during September. Harvesting normally takes place throughout the winter May to October.

During fruit harvesting season tours can be taken through the orchards and tours can be arranged at the packhouses, where the fruit is washed, waxed, graded and packed for export.

Riverside 2 Accommodation

We offer spacious accommodation in our beautiful home, surrounded by lemon trees and a tranquil garden setting.

Start your day with a delicious breakfast either in the dinning room area or on the patio.

ACTIVITIES & ATTRACTIONS:
Fill your days with a walk in the citrus orchards, a hike in the beautiful mountains, get putting on the 9 hole golf course, for bird lovers this is a paradise and nature lovers will be sorely tempted to stay even longer.

After a long day of game viewing one can relax in the main quest lounge or on the patio, overlooking the pool. From the patio one can see the Zuurberg Mountain which when misted over looks just like our famous “Table Mountain.” Or take a swim in our sparkling pool to cool off or just relax with a sundowner.

The Kirkwood Festival is one of the highlights of Kirkwood and normally takes place in June. It hosts game auctions, entertainment and stall - promising to be a festival of fun for the whole family.
Another attraction is the annual Rose Festival, held during October, which receives national acclaim and support.
